 Subject: k&n gen II, does it fit in a 5.2 cruise control?

i read that the K&N gen II will not fit because of the cruise control cable in a 5.9, i have a 5.2 cruise control and i want to install the k&n gen II, will it fit? do i have to move the cable away? is it hard to do?

It may not be in the way at all. On the 5.9's it wasn't a problem 'til 99, I believe.

I have a 2001 5.9, what do you have to do to the cruise control cable to make the k&n system fit?
Does the k&n come with instructions on how to move it?

Semi instructions but those are no good if other mods cause a problem as well. You should look at one that's been done. I'll try to get some pictures in the system next week. It's not as simple as the instructions. Some minor fabrication must be done to heat shield for the cables.

Ron, yea pics would be great, I am getting my ney 5.9 quad at the end of the month an the first thing I want to do is install the K&N gen II intake, I didnt realize it wassnt a bolt on..

It is if you don't have cruise control. The kit you want regardless is 57-1509...or you can get the Mopar one from your dealer. Price is comparable. One has K&N's logo, the other has the Mopar logo. Both are made by K&N.

I just installed an Airaid Intake on my 2000 3.9. The instructions said that the cruise problem was only on the 2000+ 5.9. But I had to move mine. But I only had to undo the three nuts and move the bracket thing forward like the instructions say. They say to reroute the cruise cable in front of the A/C line but I saw no reason to move anything else. There didn't seem to be any extra tension on the cruise line or the vacuum hose. Just shifted the bracket forward to make room for the filter.
