those don't sound right to me. I have an '02 that dyno'ed at 221rwhp and 273 rwtq. Mods are single 40 series flow w/stock pipes, k&n drop in, and comp work done by a dodge tech.

The starting point will depend somewhat on whether it's an automatic or a manual trans.

Silver 02,

by comp work, do you mean a flash by a dodge tech?

Where, how much, what changes are made to the stock program?

Answer here, or better yet, my e-mail at left.

Thanks,
Todd

My '02 4.7L with automatic had 191.x HP and 26?.x TQ stock. I only remember the HP for sure, and I'm almost positive the torque was in the mid 260's. Not too bad for a small displacement V8 in a truck. Heck, stock 5.0L Mustangs only had about 185-187 RWHP in 92-94, so we're actually on with most older F body stangs.

4,7L Mike,

HUM, you are loosing 29% at the rear wheels. If I was you I would release the emergency brake, the release is on the left side of the steering wheel right under the dash.

no bull here 4.7LMike Those were the numbers of my best run (I made about 6 runs total) ... my best first of two runs was

282.2 RWTQ @ 3053 RPM
186.7 RWHP @ 3796 RPM

This was in 4th gear, and the speed limiter kicked in...the hp curve never peaked, that was as high as it got was 3796 RPM.

my next run was also in 4th, then the following 4 were in 3rd gear. ... the best of those four read a whopping 420.7ft-lbs on the dyno .. which works back to 300.3 ft-lbs after discounting the mechanical advantage of 3rd gear (1.401 is the number I used .. do the math yourself)

to the credit of the second set of runs, the hood was up when I was back there (I don't know if it was for the first set ... I don't think so though)

Who knows the truth?

I think that it's nearly as difficult to compare dyno numbers as it is to compare timeslips from different tracks. Some tracks or dynos are more generous in their numbers than others. The only REAL way to compare apples to apples is to have all of the trucks in the same place on the same day in the same conditions. Of course that's not possible.... but everyone should keep that in mind when they compare stats. Most dyno sheets are corrected back to sea level normal conditions, but those corrections are subject to errors.

Here in Phoenix - one dyno shop was losing customers because his numbers were consistently lower than another shop across town. He just fudged a bit on the correction values and he made everybody happy. So which one is correct? It's quite possible that the second shop was fudging the correction values to keep his customers happy also.... so who knows what the real values are?

that's true Duner .. I think the best thing to keep in mind is to go back to the same dyno and run it under the same conditions everytime you dyno it ...

me for example, because I got the best data (and by best I mean the widest spanning (b/n 1000RPM and 6000RPM) and least choppy) with my hood up in third gear ... that's what all my future runs will be done like. ... and on the same dyno.

Todd,
The dodge tech had the engine out to work on(remove) the heater box and air conditioner. When he put the enigine back in he had to run diagnostics on it. It showed the timing and fuel maps were off.(post mods) All he told me was that he advanced the timing and remapped the fuel. I'm not exactly sure what remapping fuel does though. All of this was done under warranty. Not bad for a free upgrade!
