Subject: Rearend Question?? IP: Logged
Message: I have a 2001 QC 4.7 with the 3.55 rearend and I was under it today and noticed there is a rubber plug on the back of the rearend and it looks like some of the fluid has been seeping out a little bit. What is that rubber plug for and should I have it checked out???

Message: This is your rear servicing plug. If it is leaking buy a new plug from the dealer and replace. Ck your fluid level while the plug is out. It should be just below the plug level.

Message: Another question: -can you get a Dak differential 'rear end' with a lower drain plug *and* and an upper fill plug in it? Or even, can these be machined in?
I find it a lot quicker/easier to just turn out a couple of allen-plugs to drain & fill my car diff, than to have to put the thing up on a hoist and play around with a new big seal and a bunch of bolts.
What's the reasoning behind the single-rubber-plug back plate?
