Message: I am wondering if there is a shift kit for a 93 4x4 Dakota w/318, 4spd(O/D) auto trany, and 3.55's? If so, how much does it cost, how easy is installation, and what will it do on the performance side? Thanks.

Message: There will be a shift kit out there for your tranny but dont know who makes them. What it will do is tighten up the shifts make them faster and less noticable. It will help your 0 to 60 time giving you numbers close to a 5 speed if not better.

Message: I put in a Transgo kit in my 92 Dak 4x4 a couple of weeks ago. I picked up a kit on ebay for $75. Installation does not req a lot of mech knowlage or tools but it does require a lot of patience and 2 gallons of tranny fluid! The only thing lacking in the Transgo kit is adequate book form instructions. Who knows maybe they were lost in my kit but the inst comes in two forms. Video and paper. Unfortunately the book only picks up when you have removed the valve body and have disassembled it completely. I had to rely on the vid on how to get the VB out and then back in again. Also the vid dosent mention when you install the new much bigger spring and washer into the rear servo you will need either 3 giant python arms or an assist from a bottle jack to get that sucker back in there! The trans they show in the vid must have at least 1 trillion miles on it because the parts just fall out with the slightest effort.
Performance wise, I must admit that it was well worth the trouble of the install and I am very glad I did it myself! The shifts are much better and the power has gone up due to the lack of slip and slop. If you do it yourself, take your time and do not get ahead of yourself. If I can help you further feel free to email me.
