I disconnect the TPS and put the neg. side in the middle terminal and grounded it to the battery.now my check engine light is on so i have to reset my computer. any help is appreciated.thanks

Message: How were you checking the TPS voltage?? Shoudl be done with key on/engine off. black probe to ground and red probe on orange wire with the connector on the sensor. Shouldn't read more than .75vdc at idle(no moving of the linkage)
