well i need some info... i am going to be changing the head gaskets in my truck in about a week, and i have been thinking of changing out the crappy stock lifters while i have the heads, and manifold off. what should i get? does mopar have a lifter that is better than the stock one?

im not having any lifter problems, but since im paying $150 JUST FOR GASKETS, i might as well do a little previntave maintence. i am also putting in the mopar valve springs, and i think they will add more stress to the lifters.

ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Crower makes high RPM lifters, but they are expensive... I currently run my stock lifters, but will be switching to the new Crowers when I get the $$$$.

I sell 'em for $272 shipped. Yes, they're that expensive.

You can swap the lifters out without removing the heads. So all you lose is the intake manifold gaskets.

If you stay with the stock cam, the springs are fine to 5500 rpm... I'd spend the money to get the longer pushrods/guideplates for the 1.7s. You up the RPMS without that, the springs won't help ya. Best to do both really.

Mopar lifters are on nationwide backorder... Start looking now if you are wanting new ones.

yeah i seen them on the crower sight for 300+! then i thought about you ;-) i didnt know if you sold them or not. thanks for the price!

what do you think about the mopar lifters?
are they stronger than the stock ones?

i am upgrading the headgaskets this weekend, so i guess im S.O.L. i didnt know you just had to take off the intake manifold, so at least it will not be so bad to change them when the time comes. thanks for the help sam!!

You doing a cam?? Why changing the headgaskets??

Think about replacing the Timing chain while you're down there (Get the JP chain from www.krcperformance.com-- best chain out there).

Don't forget to completely drain your coolant-- hit the block drain too-- that'll keep the coolant from getting into places you don't want.

im upgrading the gaskets just for some insurance before i put the blower on.

i have heard the stock lifters suck, so i thought what the he11, i might as well do them while im doing everything else. and since my truck has 80k on it.

should i do this?... i have the mopar 1.7RR's and when i bought them (almost a year agao) i also got the mopar valve springs. i dont go over 5200 rpm, but was going to do the springs because i have them.
should i put them in, of just sell them?

With the blower you may want to upgrade the springs because on the top end a few hundred rpm could make a big difference for boost. More rpm= more boost! I think the springs and retainers would be a great help.
I run the MP lifters,springs and retainers to 6k at the track using Hughes rr's and hardened push rods. Also running the Pro Gear timing set that Hughes sells. Both gears are hardened.

For my soon to be installed supercharger, I'm using the J&S UltraSafeguard timing controller and will see how long the stock head gaskets hold up.
If you want the MP lifters, West Oaks or Mancini my have some on the shelf.

If doing a blower, you should do the springs, AND-- if you aren't running the rev kit (or PK) with longer pushrods and guideplates-- YOU MUST DO THAT TOO!!!! With the SC you WILL find the additional 'snap' of the engine can cause your rockers to float-- The insurance of the rev kit will be a lot cheaper than having to tear it all back down again and repair whatever gets screwed up.

sam, i have the mopar rockers and they come with the guideplates, and some other "stuff"

i will not be spining the engine over 5200 (governed) but will be doing the springs. and ill call around for the lifters

Kota , I looked at the specs for the mopar HP valve springs and they have a higher seat presure then stock but a lower presure at .450 lift so I don't think they will add stress to the valve train.

sam, (or anyone else that can answer this).

i heard the lifters have a girtle or something that keeps them from turning and distroying the cam.

do you know what the bolts are torqued at?
