Subject: R/T & 4.7 Performance IP: Logged
Message: From what I see & have read there is not a whole lot of diffrence between the R/T 360 & the 4.7 except for about 30 horses. I've been lookin for a R/T but they are hard to find used. So I'm thinkin about just going with a 4.7 instead of the R/T. My other Dakota was a Quad cab with the 4.7 in it & it run good. So I believe it is possible to get a 4.7 to run as good if not smoke a R/T. Would be nice if Dodge decided to put their new Hemi motor in a Dakota. Now that would be something that would run.

If you are serious about an R/T, I know of one for sale. I have the keys and title waiting for a buyer. A friend of mine is a trucker and needs to sell his 2000 Clubcab R/T.
20k miles, Mopar headers, PCM, FM TB, cold air intake, 3" exhaust, bedliner and tonneau cover.
Every power option from the factory and has the Chrysler factory warranty until 2007 or 75,000 miles! Ran a 14.4 @ 97mph at Gainesville Raceway.
Garaged since new and always pampered!
a750turbo@dragbike.com if interested. He needs to move it!

I've been lookin in the Houston area for about 2 months now & have put the word out at alot of car lots & no one has even called me on one yet. Maybe I'm just to picky. I would like to have a 99 or 01 Extended Cab Intense Blue R/T. I;m probably going to hold off till after the frist of the year before I buy unless I come across what I'm lookin for. And if I don't find a R/T buy then I'll probably go ahead & buy the 4.7.

Message: rtman70 - While I understand that you can only go
from your personal experiences.....there's a whole
bunch of RTs that had a whole bunch of mods that
have been beaten down the track by a 4.7 (with or
without turbo). I hesitate to use the word
"smoke" because I don't know the quantitative
value of "smoke". Is that a fender, 1
truck-length, 2 truck-lengths or a whole second?
Obviously there are plenty of R/Ts that are
quicker than my 4.7, but that number should be
dwindling in the future. The 4.7 can be made to
run against the modded 5.9s - you just have to be
selective about the mods you do to the 4.7.

And the 5.9 is a great engine, but, it is on its way out. And the 4.7, which I happen to have in my 2000 Quad is a better engine for the following reasons;
1. More efficient lightweight intake
2. Overhead Cam Engine
3. Overall more lightweight engine by about
50 lbs or more.
4. In case you didn't notice the 4.7 has a
coil for each plug, they are mounted
directly on top of each one. Which
translates into no, if not significantly
less resistance than a cap/rotor & wire
setup.
5. I feel safer with 6 Quarts of oil in
the pan than 5. (personal opinion) & fact.
PS. If you own a stock R/T and I see you around
I'll run you, but don't be depressed when you
don't win.
If you got mods you gotta wait till I got mods
Probably run ya anyway though.
PSS. Both the 4.7 & 5.9 are Kick @#$ engines
so we shouldn't rag on each other we should be
ragin about how we kicked the &*^% outta those
chevys, fords, and definitely least that import
crap.

2K4x45.9er - Doesn't 2K4x45.9 mean you have a quad
cab? The 5.9 is probably the best choice for
something that big and heavy.
2Blue - The 4.7s are just gonna keep getting
stronger and stronger as more aftermarket mods
become available. Are you planning on a manual
trans or an automatic?

Duner's truck would hand your RT it's hat after it blew it off!!!
I've even got an RT (semi quick now)... With Nitrous I MIGHT be able to keep up with Duner. That's a Might... My truck with NOS should be in the 12.8x-12.9x range (being I run a 14 flat NA).
Even so, that 'little' 4.7L hauls ass... What, 12.7 Duner?
I've ridden in it... Definately a fun ride. Just need to get a few 4.7L guys serious about going that route and the kit might happen for folks. If I had a 4.7L, that's what I would do.
