Subject: All kennebell 4.7's please reply IP: Logged
Message: I have some questions for all kennebell 4.7 charger owners for their dakota. I am just about a week away from purchasing my sc and have decided that for my heavy ass 4x4 quadcab and taking into consideration the towing I do, that a kennebell is exactly what I need, it appears to be the best. Knowing this, what can you guys tell me about what the greatest advantage about the system and disadvantage is. Has anyone had knock problems like some claim? Has anyone heated up to much and had it render itself a worthless blower? Does the shifting work out o.k. for those with autos? One last thing, what are the mileages on your systems? Hey thanks guys, gotta love this forum!

Message: I had the kit on a 5.2 4X4 5 speed. Took a trip from seattle,wa to redding,ca and got 4 mpg up the grade EMPTY. You don't want that thing on there while towing. Go naturally asperated for towing.

Message: "Fuel economy"- now that's another main factor. Is hard to control boost levels while towing? I already get poor mpg but that's insane!

Message: I have the kit. Absolutely love it! No problems at all with knocking. Just make sure you use the higher octane gas like they recommend.
I've only used it a couple times to tow a two horse trailer loaded for about one hour trips. Controling boost while towing wasn't a prob. either. I have a 5 speed so I'm not sure about the auto thing.
My gas mileage stays close to stock unless I really get on the gas and see boost. Of course then gas mileage will suffer. Boost is available at 2,000 RPM's, but that doesn't mean it's going to come on there all the time. Only under heavy or wide open throttle pushes.
The 5.2L kit is a completely different design. The 4.7L kit replaces the entire intake manifold for one thing and sits right on top of the engine.
As far as disadvantages... the only thing I can think off right now is the one speeding ticket I got it the truck! LOL Get the kit! You will love it! Hope this helps.

Where did you get it , and did it come complete , ready to bolt on? Can you remove it later if you sell the truck without any modifications?

Message: Now is NOT the time to come to redding. For the past few weeks temperatures have been above 110 most days and some days 115.....right now it seems really mild and according to my heatometer its 103. That is pretty sad when you think 103 is mild. I went to college at Chico State so I am very familiar with Chico......perhaps too familiar. Anyway I must admit as far as California is concerned everything South of Red Bluff is like a different California to me and I agree with what xplikt said......no reason to even want to go there. Redding is nice just dont come in the summer...........

Message: I bought the kit directly from Kenne Bell. It was a complete kit with everything you need. Right down to cooler range spark plugs and a 180* Thermostat. The only thing I had to buy was a pod to mount the boost gauge in. Got that from my local speed shop for like $15 or something. My kit didn't include a Boost-a-Pump and so far I've had no need to look into getting one. It still may be a good idea to get one, but obviously not necessary.
I guess I could remove it if I wanted to, but that would be a pain in the butt. It's funny you bring up the fact about selling it without any modifications because today my brother and I decided to sell the truck. It's our company truck as well as my personal truck. We own our own Sign Co. and have decided to make some cut backs and unfortunately letting the Dakota go is going to be one of them. We'll prob. buy an older V6 Dakota to use as a work truck, and I now have my R/T to "play" with as my personal truck. You can see a list of the mods below in my sig. I haven't even listed it yet in the auto trader, but we're going to be asking around $16,000 if anyone here might be interested, or know someone who might be. That's only $2,000 more than what I owe on it and the SC kit alone was $4,000. The reason it's priced so low is unfortunately the Co. isn't doing as well as we'd hoped and we have it priced to sell quickly. It has 31,000 miles on it and has been taken very good care of. Price includes everything in my sig. I'm too lazy and too busy to remove all the goodies and sell them separately.
Hope this answers some of your questions and if you might know someone interested in the truck e-mail me at signman615@hotmail.com.
Thanks
