Subject: Low End HP/Torque
IP: Logged

Message:
I've seen all the posts about increasing horsepower/torque, but no one seems to specify where in the powerband those increases occur. I could care less about picking up 10-20 rwhp @ 5000 rpm, because 99% of my daily driving occurs below that (way below).

With a bone stock 2001 4.7 3.55 4x4, how can I get the most bang for my buck and increase the low end hp/torque? Thanks.

Hey WTXQuad

I'd also like to know more info on this too. I'd like to get more low end power out of my 3.9 V6. I like to do ALOT of off-road driving. { If any one knows of good places to go in Mass please let me know} I'd also like to get more low sound out of mine too.

How about an aftermarket PCM, and I've heard the HO cams increase hp in the low and midrange.

Sorry, my mistake, the HO cams are only for the 4.7.

I too was disappointed with the loss of low end after doing the intake, TB, and exhaust mods. This morning I finished installing the HO cams so I will have a report soon. I have heard tell that the HO cams give you 25 HP and torgue, mostly in the low end.

The best thing you can do for low end is the PCM flash whichever company will do the 2001 PCM. The next best thing you can do is the HO cams which give low-down power. The HO intake will give you power up in the rpm range, so leave it alone. Other than that, the factory did their best to give you as much low-end as possible.

The cams are from the High Output version of the 4.7 that comes in Jeep Cherokees. I think KRC sells the same cam. You can check out their web site. krcperformance.com
Go to the 4.7 page.

you can get the cams at any dodge dealership as well. check around and see if they offer discounts for local Mopar clubs. with my Cowtown Mopars discount, the cams will be $55 each. and then i think you can buy the chain wedge tool from KRC for like $20.
