Hey guys, I have a 99 dakota 4x4 5.2 5spd with approx. 60000 km. Sometimes, On start up, when the truck has been left over nite, it flashes up, but hesitates and the rpms run to about 500 and hangs there for about 3 seconds and then it goes over a 1000 and then back to normal idle. I have brought it to the dealership and they cannot find the problem.. This has been happening for about a year and a half now and first they changed a intake gasket that was sucked inside. This improved the problem, but it still exists. Its gets worse with colder weather and longer times sitting..

Everything in under the hood is stock until tomorrow when i get a cold air intake, and a flowmaster muffler with custom pipes,.. I am waiting to see if this changes anything.

Any info will be cool.

Chad

I have had the same prob in ma 97 2wd 5.2 5spd 3.92 beast you described it well but I think that it sounds more like a chunking or caming or skipping in a way, that is for those 3 seconds on a cold start-up..I have 61k on mine and it has been doing it since I bought it with 45k...so if you find anything out please email me at lperdue@radfrd.edu....thanx man..
