Mike,

Since your running 1.92 R/T heads with the stock rocker assy, did you have to add shims to make it work correctly? Any suggestions on what extra things I might have to do to make my installation go smooth?

You should be able to just bolt them right up. If I were you I'd get roller rockers...reason why I put mine back on is because I didn't know KRC shipped the studs seperate from the rockers and it was sort of a last minute deal but I will be putting on 1.6 RR's on w/ the new 2.02 heads. What do you mean by shims? What exactly are you installing...heads? cam? rockers only?

One tip is to make sure U keep things as clean as possible...especially taking off the old gaskets where shavings can get down into the combustion chambers. Oh and another note, if your doing your heads (my buddy made this mistake on his install) on the passenger side head there is a ground for the Tranny line and you have to unscrew that and its kinda hidden at the back, so its not wise to unbolt the head and try to yank it off or U'll have a big mess haha. Don't forget to torque the head & intake bolts to the correct lbs. If your doing cam work make sure you centerline the cam off the intake port and not the exhaust port.

Thats all I can think of at the top of my head. Hope that helped.

One more thing...after you get your cam and heads on you'll have to find someway to hook your computer up and read what the distributor is set at so you can index it...mine was set at +12 and I took mine to a dealership which had a guy that did performance work for a buddy and he tried to set mine at 0 but couldn't so set it at +1. What he is doing is either adjusting the cam sensor and he turns the distributor and checks the readout on the computer he hooks up to my truck. And after he did that it really woke it up.

Mike,

I have Mopar 1.7RR right now, I don't like adjusting them all the time, that's why I want to use my old stock rockers. I'm also going to run 512/512 lift, so the 1.7rr might be too much lift.

About the cam, what if I just mark the position of the cam with the teeth and all and just slip in the cam, since it only goes on one way with the notch. Do you think that a bad idea?

You can't use your 1.7's unless you shave the heads down to make clearance anyways but if you lash your valves the correct way you shouldn't have to keep readjusting them.

And its a bad idea to think you just take out your cam and pop in the new one, there is alot more to be done that just popping it in. Getting your cam degreed correctly is probably the most significant part of the install. I suggest if your not sure about how to use a degree wheel or how to centerline it then I would take it to a pro that does it alot, preferably a Mopar guy. There is a guy that did mine and hez done about 11 Dakota R/T's putting in heads and cam so far. I dunno what area you live in but I'd try to find someone who'll know how to do all that, cuz you could rob yourself of some major HP not getting everything in sync and timed just right.
