Isn't one longer than the other? I have a set sitting at home, but I am sure one is longer than the other, in which case you could compare them when you take one out.

Thanks Glenn

They looked pretty close to me. I'll check them out when I get back home.

Cheers!

I just measured, one is 1.5" longer than the other. I guess I don't have to worry about getting them mixed up.

Is one really longer than the other by 1.5"?
I just got them, and they look almost identical.
Did I get the right parts? They have the right #'s on them, but now I'm a bit worried about tearing my engine apart and finding out they won't fit.

Thanks in advance.

I set mine side by side and yes, one was 1.5" longer than the other one. The long one goes on the right side. I think it might be due to the fact that they are run by seperate chains and the chains are about 1" thick, so one chain has to sit in front of the other one. The right side also has to have room for the cam position sensor on it. If you set them end to end and they are not different lengths, then they are not the right cams. At least for a 2001 4.7.

Are the 2000 4.7's the same as the 2001's?
How long should they be so I know which I've got?
Thanks

Well, I figured out I have the wrong left side cam. I got 2 rights. Of course, I figured this out when I had the truck torn apart.

Local dealer said I couldn't get another cam before tues of next week. Said closest one was in Vancouver (I'm in Nova Scotia), about 3000 miles away. So I called a dealer in Vancouver and having them fedex it to me for tomorrow.

Hope it's the right part in the box this time.
