Hey guys..just got a simple airaid intake for my 4.7 dakota...you know the intake where you just take the lid off your airbox and snap their filter and box on...well anyway....I maybe noticed a little better performance when im going less than 30mph but it seems...the stock air intake did better at cruising speeds you know 55 and up....anyone have a different opinion on this intake....or anyone know of an intake that increases hp over the entire powerband? I heared the intense air z-tube was good....but someone please offer some personal infor on my intake ...or should i get a new one?

Seems to me a reduction in air intake restriction is good, regardless of the manufacturer. There is more than just the filter, though. If you've installed a system incorporating filter and intake tube that should allow the air charge to get into the engine as easily as possible. By the posts, there is a lot of Brand Loyalty. As far as operation goes, there are a lot who have made their own from Home Depot materials and are happy. I've got an AirAid system on my 5.9 and like it,...D

I have the same intake installed on my QC and it seems to run very well and I've had in installed for about 1000 miles..I have noticed more power over the stock and it has given about 1-2 mpg gain.

Well in my opinion it sucks. I had it on and after driving it around sometimes it was so hot to the touch that you could barely hold your hand to it. Like that one guy said...either get the K&N thats plastic and comes w/ a cold air dam or the Mopar Performance which is also plastic and wont' heat up as much.
