 Subject: Cold Air intakes

Hey guys, I have a 01 3.9 ext cab stock dak, and I am curious which intakes are the best and the worst and why. There are alot of choices out there, I currently have my eyes on the Air Max, does this one fair against the competition? Looking for all the mpg's I can get, with a little more under the pedal. Drive 216 mi's a day to roundtrip to work, so you can see my delima.

If fuel milage and a little more UMPH ia what ya want most of the K$N systems or Intense Performance Systems will do just fine. Some of these Guys have some pretty good low dough homebrew systems they can hook you up with. I use the Intense Performance z-tube on mine ,but mines a 4.7 Liter. It helped fuel milage a tad and power.(not that I'm REAL conserned with fuel milage with highway cruise speeds of 120 MPH)
Astetics and cost is what you have to debate for yourself.

Cool, thanks for the info. I was was also thinkin about switching the stock plugs for the autolites I keep seeing this site. Eventually cap/wires too. Looking for any improvment I can get. I'm ball parkin mpg between 18 to 21.6 now, avg speed 75 -90 mph.

Thats not to bad I'm getting 14-16 mpg at 110+.

Guess I'm a prick for complainin' but any bit helps, kinda hard on the pocket book buying 20 gal. every 2 daze...You think the autolites, cap, wires, tstat, plus intake help my case any?

Thanks for the feedback, and please excuse my ignorance. the intake I ordered is an Air Raid. I also just purchased the autolite 3923's. I know it is small additions so far, but I figured you gotta start somewhere. Besides the more I hit this site the more the $ burns in my pocket. Thanks to everyone on this site for all the information. I plan on hitting this site for quite some time, and who knows maybe I can add some insite along the way.
