Subject: Proper Fluids and Capacities IP: Logged
Message: What viscosity of fluids should I run in the transfer case, diffs, and tranny? I will be running Royal Purple synthetics, but I can't find what viscosity to use in the users manual or how much I will need of each? Can I run 85W140 in the diffs with no problems and 75W90 in the tranny? Will I need to use ATF in the transfer case?
I have a 2000 4X4 4.7L with a 5-Speed and 3.55.

Message: Dbl check your owners manual again. I know mine listed the viscosity for different fluids. You might want to call a reputable dealer and ask to see the service manual for your year to check on quantities. On my 2002, the diffs. call for 75W-90 & they used 5 quarts between the two of them. The transfer case on my auto. was ATF+4, or synthetic equivalent, and used 1-1/2 quarts. Good luck!
2002 QC 4x4 Sport Plus, 4.7L, auto, Patriot Blue, Tire & Handling group, Heavy Duty Service group, Leer cap w/out windows, Mopar Step bars and roof rack, Rhino liner in bed and on step bars, Pace Edwards Power Tailgate lock 3.55 rear, 4-wheel anti-lock brakes, all possible fluids are AMSOIL
