I have a 57 Dodge Truck with a 354 hemi in it. I am looking for a good manual Tranny to swap in behind it. I wondered if Dodge ever put in a strong enough 5 spd in a Dak that i could use. It has the same bolt pattern as a 318. I could use any information that any of you could give me.

PS I've worked on a few Daks and currently reside with a 2000 Durango 4.7(got any cheap power tips?:).

I was looking at trannies on ebay last night as I
might have to upgrade mine eventually (probable
engine swap). There were two, one a 5 speed, the
other auto. They were both rebuilt, from the same
company and there was a 1-800 number if you were
looking for one, they seemed to deal in all kinds.
What about the 727? I know that the Ram guys like
that one for toughness.
I also belong to Dodgetrucks.org. There is a
Durango forum on there, lots of good info.
