Message: Does anyone have an Auto X Ray OBD I Scan Tool? If so, how do you like it?
I am considering buying one. My truck is running rough but the Check Engine Light didn't come on so there are no codes to be pulled. I've replaced / checked everything the computer doesn't monitor (plugs, wire, vacuum lines, etc., etc.) but still get RPM fluctuations while at cruising speeds. No belly pan problems either (M1).
Will the Tool give me information the PCMdoesn't, or does it only read what codes the PCM throws out?
I know the Scan Tool gives sensor values and makes nice pretty graphs w/ a PC link, but if those sensor values are not to specifications, the Check Engine light will come on anyway, making a Scan Tool unnecessary. Correct? Will the Tool pick up something the PCM didn't?
Thanks,
James
