I went to the dealer today to see a 2001 4x4 RC 4.7 in silver. WOW! I think this truck is awesome! Can any owners of 4.7's tell me any problems they have had? This truck would look excellent towing my snowmobile trailer, but I want to make sure it is a good purchase.

A lot of us have this really goofy idle problem that no one knows the source of. Other than that, it's been a good engine.

RT, I have an 01 QC, 4.7L. It's the best truck I have ever had, not one problem. I haven't noticed the rough idle in mine. Good luck, and go for it!

Only problem I've noticed is the inability to keep it under 115 mph on the Auto-bahn.
No Idle problems and I've had the KB PCM reflash and several modifications. Still looking for that rough idle I've heard about. Brakes squeek some times but it's the high speed slow downs when the Germans want to rubberneck at something.

RTJohn if your thinkin about gettin the 4.7 on top of your R/T then yeah go ahead but if your thinkin about trading it in I think your making a big mistake...IMO.

I have a 2000 4.7 4X4 RC. 15k miles and no problems. I don't have any idle problems. You don't even know it's running in drive. Buy the towing package. It's a good investment. You won't be sorry.

30 yrs from now it still won't be a R/T. Just another parts doner, for a R/T resto. Garage the R/T. Get the 4.7 and thrash the heck out of it.
