 Subject: Carbon Fiber Brake Pads

Hey, I need the link to the place that sells the Carbon Fiber brake pads in the Los Angeles area. I have my new powerslots, and want to run these carbon fiber pads as the Raybestos pads suck the big one...major brake dust, and they chew up the rotors pdq!
It's for a 2000 RT.

Here is the link to PFC, their carbon-based brake pads are very good. Perhaps the best stopping power. Do not forget that high-performance brake friction material has to be heated up before it will work well....it is, after all, for racing applications and not suited for everyday street use. (if a child runs out in front of you... there is no time to "heat up" the brakes before you stop.)

One comment .... you will find that virtually ALL carbon-based pads will make the black dust. That is the nature of CARBON.
The raybestos CERAMIC-BASED pads geterate MUCH less black dust than the carbon-based pads. I installed the ceramic-based pads on my dakota when I put the powerslots on and have been VERY pleased with the results.
Perhaps your experience with RAYBESTOS is with their general-use brake pads which are NOT ceramic-based.
I found it VERY difficult to locate a parts store that could even ORDER the RAYBESTOS ceramic-based pads for my Dakota. They are apparently in high demand by many folks.
Why do you care about your POWERSLOT rotors getting chewed up anyway... they have LIFETIME gaurantee. (as long as you do not use them for "compitetion")

I just ordered a set of titanium brake pads from JCwhitney. Anyone know how these compare with dust and stopping power to the Carbon based and ceramic based pads?

They are NOT titanium... read the name again carefully. It only *appears* to be titanium.
In any case, I understand they are better than OEM. They are certainly more reasonably priced than the Raybestos ceramic pads.
I am sure they will perform reasonably well for you. Are you also installing new rotors or just changing your pads?

The titanium ti brake pads from JCwhitney are a good replacement . I have them I only notice a fade when I try to stop fast from 90 mph or more.

Thanks for the link... Well, I am pretty hard on the brakes-- I do a lot of 1/4 mi runs, auto-x the truck, and am planning on generally driving the truck only for recreation (I've got a new daily driver).
The Raybestos that I had were of the Quiet Stop Variety (that's all I could get at the time-- not much choice for 2000 brakes, only '99 and older). Lifetime guarantee on the rotors??? Even if the pads fail??? Heck I'd send back my original powerslots if that's the case... (Raybestos pad on driver's side had 50-60% material left, then it came off of the shoe leaving only the backing... crunch! There goes the rotor).

Ouch.... Sam, I can see why you do not like Raybestos.
If you are going to "compete" with you truck (1/4 miles and autocross) There is no question that you should consider either "Performance Friction" or "Hawk". These 2 are the best in the buisness when it comes to brake pads.
