Any good or bad info on these? Any idea why they are so cheap? They look prety good and dont cost as much as some of the others. I am looking to order some 1.6 but dont want to spend a fortune. But I also dont want cheap breakable crap. Any info is appreciated.
Thanks!

Message: They apparently work, people buy them and have good luck for the most part. I only sell Crower...no question on the quality or reliability. Checkout my website www.socaldakota.com, I have the lowest prices on Crower rockers.

Message: Are the crower rated to a certain hp? So they wont work on an engine that goes over 5500 rpms, do any? I like most others here are waiting for the TT kit. So with that it might be more benificial to go to higher rpms for more exhaust flow. Am I on the right track?
Thanks

Message: Crowers are rated above 5500 rpms (as are others)-- they have 2 kits (in 2 ratios- 1.6/1.7). If you plan on staying below 5500 rpm, you can go with the 'k' kit with studs/washers/rockers. If you plan on going above 5500 rpm, you go with the 'pk' or 'rev' kit with studs/new guide plates/longer pushrods/rockers.
It's recommended you go with heavier springs if you plan on being in the 5500+ rpm range for extended periods of time.
I ran the 'k' kit for 45k+ miles, then upgraded when I did my heads/cam. I still shift at 5400 rpm-- that's where my peak HP is now-- I've gone to 5800 rpm shifting manually-- but the 5400 shift point works fine.
I'm glad I upgraded-- I've got the best there is, and after seeing how wimpy the stock springs were-- very happy I went with the RT heads!

Message: 1.7 ratio rockers on a stock cam will net you between 12-15 rwhp & 15-20 ft. lbs. of torque. They come 'on the pipe' so to speak at 3000 rpm... So, if you drive below 3000 rpm, you won't feel much... Peak HP is still around 4650 on the stock cam. Installation isn't that bad-- you'll need mopar valve covers to clear the 1.7s (Crowers, not sure with the Hughes). Crower's are in stock right now.

Message: Sam, are those Mopar valve covers only for the V8's, or do you have some that'll fit the new V6's...like an '02? I don't really like the idea of banging on my oil baffles. Also, would the 1.6 rockers work better below 3000rpm? I'm interested in making more low-mid range power, since most of my driving is around town...no racing, just want more punch off idle to about 4000rpm.

Message: I did the cam, lifters, hardened pushrods, springs, retainers, valve seals(what the he!!, I was in there), timing chain/gears, valve covers and the roller rockers at the same time. So I don't know what the RR are worth as a stand alone mod. I think rtdkota's info. is on the money.
Install is not hard if you are comfortable working on and peforming maint. on your truck.
Just follow the instructions.
Need to modify factory valve covers or use MP covers for the Hughes also.

Message: What cam would use guys recommend with 1.7 rockers? Or would you go with 1.6 roller rockers if you were going with a higher lift cam? I want a cam that will give me a little more horsepower in the 3000-4000 rpm range.

Message: Pistolero-- No mopar covers available for the V6s... Knocking in the oil baffles isn't that big a deal... and we are talking only 1/4 or so at most. Why not order a set of covers from Bernd, have him knock 'em in for ya... and get them powder coated!
If you do rockers on a stock cam, get the 1.7s... 1.6s aren't worth it unless you plan on doing a cam... Your 4000 rpm power band range is perfect for the 1.7s... idle to 2500 rpm (about the same as stock), 2501-3000 rpm (pulls better the stock, and starts a nice pull!).. 3001 rpm to 4600 rpm (HEY! Now there's a pull I haven't felt before in this truck!). Around town, 3000-3500 rpm is great (especially with a 5 spd)... Again, not like a SC or something, but something you'll definately feel-- more so over time as you drive the truck and experience the power increase in everyday driving.

Message: Jon for the money-- you can't beat a set of 1.7s.
The increases from a 'mild' cam (as per your RPM requirements) are right in line with what the 1.7s would do for you (on your stock cam).
Figure to benefit from a set of 1.6s, you'll buy those (same price as 1.7s), figure the price of your new cam (custom), figure in a new timing chain set, timing cover gasket, antifreeze, time to remove everything off the front of the engine, then reinstall-- and you'd be about where the 1.7s would get you--- Now if you go the new cam route, you might as well do your heads and have them ported (get a new set of cores and go that route-- used magnum heads are junk-- crack, etc.)
