Subject: What happened to your stock hood? IP: Logged
Message: I was wondering what you did with your stock hood after install of an after market hood. Any one find a body shop that was willing to accept it for compensation for painting the new hood?

Message: I got a $100 for mine from one body shop. The others wasn't even interested. I called my dealer and I could have bought a brand new dak hood for around $250 and you know a body shop is not going to pay full price. When I swapped hoods on my 95 ram I got one shop to paint my new one for the old hood but ram hoods are alot more exspensive.

Message: I'm keeping it. I had a buddy who had an aftermarket hood. He hit a dear and cracked it. He had another aftermarket as backup that was unpainted but he had just sold it to me. He's had no hood now since X-mas. It's also a very nice very customized GenII 340 FI 4 speed man. Sweet truck.

Message: I just had my cowl induction hood installed last week, and the body shop gave me $130 for my stock hood, just over half of what the retail value was.
