Subject: IAT relocate on 2001 4.7 ? IP: Logged
Message: Anyone relocated the IAT sensor on a 2001 4.7? I was able to do my friend's 2000 by using the instructions on Speedtweaks.net, but mine isn't the same. The '00 threaded in and I was able to plug the old hole with a 1/4"NPT plug and then thread the sensor into the intake tube. My '01 is a "twist-lock" type and I'm wondering how anyone else may have done theirs.
Thanks,
Travis

Message: Has anyone done this? Like I said, it worked perfectly on the 2000 but it's not the same on my 2001.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,

Message: Buy the sensor for a 01' 5.9 and then you can relocate it.

Message: Hey, CW...
I was going to relocate mine to where the temp probe is for the overhead console readout. What happens if the sensor gets wet (driving in the rain)???

Message: Not sure on that one but I wouldnt recomend it. I would imagine it would short it out causing eratic readings. If you want ot go that far put it on the fender well.

Message: Yeah, there's room behind the headlight bucket area, etc..... I'll look around.
I bought a second sensor. The original will remain in the hole, the other will be up front wherever I can figure out. Then I can lengthen the wires with a splice and hook up either sensor. One for racing, one for emissions... Heh.

Message: alex, you think a switch can be rigged/wired to go between the two (when you need to, that is)? Either that or some kind of quick disconnect wires...

Message: The wires that lead to the existing sensor are connected to the sensor with a quick-connect from the factory. ClipClip and it's off. ClipClip and it's on the other sensor. It's just like the connectors for the fuel injectors, the spark plugs, etc....

Message: CW-
Did you put a sensor from the 2000 on yours and relocate it? If so, how did you plug the hole where the original sensor was? Or did you just leave the original in?
Thanks for the help,
Travis

Message: No I never relocated mine, I have the IAT adjuster. Works very nice right now. Hit 90 today. If I was going to relocate it I would just leave the old one in and buy the threaded one.
