So is there any hope in site for some aftermarket cams for this thing? I know about the HO cams, but if I replace the cams, I want it to be a little more aggressive. I e-mailed Comp and I'm waiting for a reply I couldn't find any contact info for Crane

Hughes Racing Engines is supposed to be doing something right now, with a release date that keeps getting pushed backwards. A Lot. Hughes is under the impression that there's not that much interest in the 4.7 motors. Apparently he's not very computer saavy, and he has to have people print out his e-mail for him. If he surfed the net, I think he'd find out that he;s giving up a huuuuge market share by draggin his heels on this one.

Thanks alex I'll drop them a line too, This is what I got back from Comp.

Nick,
I don't do any cams for that engine. I may be able to do a regrind on your stock cam. I don't believe that you will be able to get an aggressive profile that will create a "lopey" idle sound. Not only that you would have to go to the performance computer offered by Mopar.
Thanks,
John

Do you plan on making any performance camshafts for the Chrysler / Dodge 4.7L 1999-02?
They're lots of people doing cam upgrades, using the camshafts out of the Jeep 4.7L HO 2002 - ?
There is a little gain, and for the money it's worth it. I would like to go this route, but if I'm going to take the time to put a cam in I'd like it to be somewhat aggressive. I'm not the only one who feels this way I frequent the doge truck boards and for someone to make a nice strong cam with a little bit of "lope" to it would really be great. There is a big market right now for cams on the 4.7L, especially for the dakota guys, me being one of them.

Thanks for your time
Nick

I talked to Dave at Hughs 4 months age. The
only work they have done on our 4.7's is the
post on their web site. He is not going to do
anything for us. He thinks there is no demand
for them.

Well I just e-mailed him earlier today, maybe if enough of us e-mail and contact some of these venders, maybe just maybe we can get a cam out of them.

finally heard back from hughes:

Nick,
We haven't had a lot of time for R&D on the 4.7 stuff so we are
a little behind. We will post it on our website as soon as it's
available.
