Subject: Ideal traction bar snubber spacing IP: Logged
Message: I'm looking into using some shims to raise the nose of my traction bars up a little and cut the distance from the snubber to the spring down a bit, what's the best distance from snubber-spring on a standard highth 2wd? (4.7+5 speed)

Message: If you want to get the full effect, have them zero'd out with no gap. But that will make for a crappy street ride. I'd say you want to be able to get your thumb between the snubber and wherever it hits. Then the suspension can work on the street and you will have traction on the track.
I am having a friend fabricate me some slapper bars that will have the snubber hitting the correct location (the spring eye instead of the leaf itself). We are also making shims to fine tune the gap, but with the improved snubber location, we may not need them. They are going to be sweet......

Message: Well, I added a pair of 3/8" thick aluminum bars between the springs and the back brackets, they cut the distance from about 1.5" to about .75". I like it, I like it alot :)

Message: Those shims make a world of difference, don't they?
