Message: I'm pretty satified with the 68. I don't think i'm getting enough air to it though. I may upgrade to the 71mm in the future but who knows. The roads have been so wet down here everytime I try to open it up I about spin in circles. Its pretty ridiculous. Been drivin like a grandma. Anyhow...for now my focus is on a larger bore intake (preferably the airmax or maybe just a homebrew). I'd like something with a heat sheild though. Even before that I really need to get my truck in for a tune up. I have 0 time to do it myself. I've got some new pads and rotors i'm gonna have put on as well. Not powerslots...just better than stock rotors. I'm not a race car driver.

Message: I'll tell ya what, the h-brew is the way to go. It was very easy and cheap to do. If I can do it anybody can. it seems like every time I try and do something new, I screw up but this was easy and I even made a bracket to take some weight off of the TB. I used PVC pipe and it seems to be holding up fine, even with 90 degree heat with the a/c on. Although I did put a few coats of rust-o-lium primer on it, I then was going to paint it but got lazy. That's another thing to, does your intake just rest on the tb? or does it have a bracket? with the bored out tb remember that the walls are thinner so you might want to look into making a bracket for it as well.
Did you gain low end, top end or both? I was even thinking about getting the ASE chip but I don't want to get wild with the thing. I want to pay it off so I can get my real sports car. (1969 charger R/T with a 528 hemi hehe)
Thanks for the update

Message: hey another question.... do you have any throttle blade squeal? I read the post fix for 4.7L 70mm blade squeal and was wondering if you had any problems.

Message: Most of what I gained was low end. At least thats the way it seems. Being that I always start in second (3.92's) I used to have to give a little gas. Now it just jumps up and goes. I can shift at lower rpms now too. In stop and go traffic I rarely go past 2000rpms. I don't have to. Unless I want to race.
Haven't noticed any thrttle blade squeal. I thought about the ASE chip as well but I don't like the idea of sending my PCM away. I'm not that patient. I'm gonna wait for Bernd to release his flash or the hyperspeed. I know i'll have to send away for Bernd's flash as well so I might not do that either.
As for the intake. I really like the Airmax. Looking at their kit it looks like they put more research into theirs the K&N did. It mounts very sturdy and its a 3.5" ID. So I may have a 360airintakez for sale for really cheap here soon. Or I may keep it and canabalize it later.

Message: I don't like the fact that you have to send in your PCM either. This is my only ride, I don't want to spend money on a rental car while my trucks sittin. I hate to prejudge a company like this but unless Bernd hooked me up with a rental or the gain per buck was awesome I wouldn't send it to him either. At least ASE you get it back in a few days. Reading the boards it seems like quite a few people have problems getting their purchases in a reasonable amount of time.
I met up with Cueball (from this site) yesterday, man he's got an awesome truck 01 QC 4x4, tons of mods, tons. I want to I guess copy lol some of the stuff he has done. Like the blue bulbs, clear corners w/ blue bulbs. He also has the ASE chip, he told me that they (correct me if I'm wrong Cueball) cut away some of the goo put in the chip, and re goo it. you cant see it while installed obviously but, if the dealer removes it, the ASE "goo" is different than the OE "goo" so it can be spotted by a dealer. Now is the hyperspeed a programmer you do yourself?? I'll do that in a heartbeat.
Dammit CThomp, you talked me into it, (the 71mm tb) looks like I'm guna have to drop Dan an e-mail lol.
I have a stupid thought, what if you took some thin liquid wax and waxed up the inside of the tb, do you think that would smooth it out, not that it's a problem, just a thought.

Message: I don't think you'll even need to wax one of Dan's TB's. He really does do a good job. I think the only problems people were having with the TB's were the 70mm F&B's. Those were designed from the scratch so the potential for abnormalities is going to be greater. Even if it is a simple solution.
The hyperspeed is supposed to be kinda like the icon timing controller(but not for timing). I think you will be able to get it pre-programmed from Bernd or be able to program it on you own comp. I think the benefits are going to be excellent. Bernd was talking it up a while ago. It's on his site. I think he may have gotten side tracked by the turbos though. Not that I blame him. Figuring out 100hp+ is alot more exciting than 20hp+.
I think Mace did the liquid wax thing and said it may only be a temporary fix.
I wish there were more Ft. Myers dak owners on this board. I see awesome Daks all over town. Saw a bad ass QC 2wd yesterday. It was about 3 car lengths in front of me at a light. He punched it just for fun I think and man did he take off. He was going straight and I was turning so I never had a chance to pull up next to him.

Message: I was reading on Bernd's site about the hyperspeed thing and it looks like once you hook it up you can program it with your laptop.
now to get the thing going
Can I ask you how long it took to receive the tb from day one? (well about) Anything I should be aware of, or any tips?

Message: Only took 3-4 days I think. It was actually pretty fast. Cost me $5.60 priority mail to send him my TB core. Your TB is actually very light. The thing only weighs like 1-2 lbs.
One tip. When you are removing the various sensors from the drivers side of the TB be wary of the screws that hold all those sensors in. The are VERY soft metal. I fear I may have messed them up a little. They are an odd shape an torqued on really hard. I had to use a drill to reverse them out. Everything else about the install was a breeze. Just those damn sensor screws.
