Subject: Quarter Mile Times Slower? IP: Logged
Message: I have a 99 Dakota R/T CC and I've been looking at stock times for the our dakota's and it seems that I always find that the 1999 R/T CC's are slower than the other years?? Is this true and why if it is? I have a lot of mods on my truck but I just was wondering why there would be a difference. I've seen some saying that times are up to half a second slower in the quarter mile than the 98 or 2000 r/t cc's. Anyone heard about this?? any info would help

Message: I don't believe there's any statistical proof to back that up. There's fast ones and slow ones for every year. The '00s should have been slightly faster than either the '98s or '99s just because of the smaller crank pulley and less pitch on the primary cooling fan. Even that would probably only show up as 3 or 4 hp at the rear wheels.
So what kind of mods do you have and what kind of times?

Message: ha well I guess I shouldn't have said lots but I have underdrive pulleys, 180 thermo, msd ignition, new spark plugs and wires, mopar performance chip and m1 are on the way, I have new headers, y pipes, jba evol exhuast, K&N intake, holley 52 mm throttle body and then just some other stuff that looks cool (tv screen, clear corners, woodgrain dash, etc) but nothing else really performance wise. I haven't had a chance to get any times for my truck yet I'm waiting for the m1 and performance chip. I'm not sure where the closest track is either I'm going to school in Socal but I'm home in Alaska for the summer without my truck! I'm waiting for the twin turbo set up and that will hopefully be next, I have no clue what my times will be at by then.

Message: Where in socal are you going to school? I'm going to Northridge but I live in Ventura County. I've been to two track here in socal, Fontana and Carlsbad. There is also LACR and Irvindale, but the Irvindale in only a 1/8 mile track. I'm planning on going to Fontana on the 23rd of June. You should come out if you're back in town by then.
