The 3.8's arent that fast huh.. I almost bought one last night. Of course the guy lied and told me it was an 5.9 r/t. As I laughed when i saw the v6 badge he proceeded to tell me it ran high 10's 1/4 mile. As i smirked at the thought i asked him to race me down main street, we did so and i beat him by 2 1/2 car lengths. And i had 4 ppl in my truck. He has headers,gibson exhaust, air raid intake, chip, and a short shifter. I have an air raid setup and flowmaster exhaust. I have a 4.3 so i'll give him that much but still...

I had one of those POS extremes, and I traded mine in for a Dakota. It sucked ass, too slow, no room in the thing, over priced. The only thing a near stock extreme can do is handle better then me and brake faster. My Dakota is not only faster but it'll rip apart your little v6.
I don't see what's so extreme about them anyways, same motor and trans as a regular v6 sh!t-10 oh wait you get a pretty euro skirt to go around the thing, my 4x4 has 16" wheels. at least the R/T has 17's not to mention they didn't drop the ball like chubby and put a pos v6 in a sport truck and call it xtereme.
btw..it's a 3.9L moron nice BS story

yeah nice story, i bet you were at the dodge dealer to huh? yeah extremes are to small, cost to much, and i think most of them have 4 bangers, lol, i know some have the 4.3, no wonder why you guys wont race me
i've found quite a few cc extremes on the road and they arent all thier cracked up to be, like i said most of them wont race me

They really dropped the ball when they made the blazer xtreme. at least in a s-10 you have a bed what the hell you guna do with a 2wd, sits to low to the ground, still to small, cant haul, can't tow, and still too d@amn expensive, But it's chevy it has to be good right. Morons

if i EVER put a viper engine in a dak, i would opt to see if i could get a 4X4 witht he full time 4WD to hook up with the Viper engine and tranny, then Get a twin turbo setup, slap myself for spendning 40grand on it, then to top it off with some 3.9L V-6 Badges

Ahhhh... the Syclone... What an awesome GMC Truck that was. Bed payload of only 500 lbs., but the machine was awesome. 4.3L V6 twin turbo... intercooled... 16" wheels/tires... performance suspension... Ripped a new one to just about anything it came across. AND they were also offered only in automatics, if my memory serves me correctly. The SUV version of the GMC Syclone was the GMC Typhoon, a no-less-formidable opponent. In fact, when I was in high school a friend in the neighborhood had one in his driveway -- but it was daddy's toy :p Too bad, all my friend got was a 72 Caddy Coupe DeVille with 2k original miles.

there are only 2 S10's that i respect where i live. Both extremes but they have a little help under the hood. There supercharged.
By the way Chevie is making a nothere SUV TT!!! the Trail Blazer will be made next year in a TT. That will be one fast blazer.
But still nothing to match the SRT 10 runing 12.3 in the 1/4 and pushing 500hp. when the closest thing to it is the Lighting runing a 13.5. Hell yea give dodge the time no one will ever touch dodge.

Dam you guys are a little touchy... Well first off the guy told me it was a 3.8 and I have never owned a dodge. So i couldn't tell if he was wrong or not... So yes it is a true story. And an extreme wasnt over priced for me (paid $3000) and its basically a body kit, front and rear sway bars, and a 3rd shock off the axle to the frame. And my truck has the 4x4 model 4.3, theres a 180 horse motor and a 190 horse motor. Mine being the 190 of course. And if the moron 4.7RC had finished school he would of read that the guy TOLD me it was a 5.9, and as i said it had a v6 badge on it.. So yes THEY DO COME F*CKING STICK. In conclusion i guess this is why i dont buy a dodge... Ive noticed that most of them talk sh*t on the road and never back it up.. My X was for show not speed, it was a simple question, are the 3.9's!!!!!! are slow. I dont give a f*ck how much YOUR 4.7's!!!!! will kick my ass. I guarantee you my truck will get more pussy then all your dodges put together. REMEMBER SHOW TRUCK NOT RACE TRUCK..

and for the record about Syclones and Typhoons the fastest stock recorded time by a magazine was 13.5 back in 91. They will run close to a viper in the 1/8th cause that is what they are...1/8th mile trucks. AWD system from the Astro Van and an intercooled turbo supplied by Mitsubishi. Max boost was electronically limited somewhere around 14.7lbs. Good luck hangin with one from a stop unless you got slicks and a nice stall.

you dont run a 4.7 against a 4.3 cause they aren't even in the same class...your little poo poo motor is way too underpowered. Look at Duner on here who runs high 12's in his 4.7. But lets just talk NA (natural aspiration here).. no squeeze, no boost...where does a 4.3 stand up? There many many 4.7's out there laying down more RWHP than your fart can 4.3 puts at the crank. A little Xtreme with a puny 190hp doesn't raise a wall on my phanny. Bone freakin stock my truck ran 15.0 in 95 degree Texas heat(that means with a crap load of humidity).
Its a sad fact the only chicks goin for a Xtreme POS driver are the ones that are "Fast and Furious" educated. The women that know the sweet melody of an american small block V8 are hangin around the mopar boys. Sorry to say but the muscle heritage wasn't built on v6's buddy. Leave the 6cylinder muscle to Porshe and go back to washing your body kit rice boy.

i'm not saying v6's are crap...far from it, but a NA 4.3 is not what you might call a performer. Ask any mechanic those motors are 150k mile motors. I used to have a 4.3 in my 90 blazer and it lasted 135k. 4.3's aren't known for their longevity and that is why they are getting replaced by the inline 6.

Well 4.7RC, don't get me wrong I'm on your side here, but someone I know has a 92 s-10 with a 4.3L and has done almost no work to it other than a clutch and has about 210,000 miles on it. It all depends on your driving habits and your maintenance.
About 5 moths ago when my truck was stock, I was on the freeway doing about 70mph or so, when I approached this slower moving s-10 ZR-2 (I think that's what their called, the 4x4, with black fender flares) As I was passing the guy, I snapped the throttle and worked my way through traffic. I look in my mirror and he began to follow. I get ahead of traffic and he casually drives past me and slows down, so I catch up, and get about 1/2 a car length in front of the guy. Then I hear his truck downshift and before I could react he was about 3/4 a car length ahead of me, so I nailed it and began pulling ahead of him. Once I had some momentum, I passed him like he had a 4 banger. As I got about 5 car lengths ahead of him I looked at my speedo and noticed I was going 110mph. Previously owning an s-10 I knew they could only go about 98mph (or so) So I backed off and as he caught up he gave me a thumbs up.
btw.. I have a 2002 4x4 CC 4.7L w/3.92's...Racing a 200? s-10 ZR-2 extended cab 4x4.
S-10's are boring not to mention they're everywhere. Dakotas for just a little bit more $$ you get a lot better truck, I think they're so much better looking too. I am curious to see what the next s-10 is going to look like though

I never said they couldn't last longer I meant on average that is what they are known for, just ask the guys who rebuild them at GM. Heck my dad owns a 3.4 toyota and there are people that have gotten 450k miles on them, but it doesn't happen everyday.

every engine is slightly different, they are not going to be trh same down to the very tourque on each nut, the small differences and the driving habits of the owner determin if the engine will be poor, average, or quality on the curve, i haventy had any trouble with my engine running since i got the truck, iv put on 15k, its a 1990 3.9 with a whopping 125 hp, all i need now is to replace my Water pump gasket and ill be set, had the tranny blow the seals and it leaked but thats not a major problem, i think the previous owner sunk it, due to the amounts of water that was found in the transfer case, she runs GREAT, underpowered but great, jsut need to do that gasket sometime and ill have no leaks or problems, i really should have it rebuilt jsut because its getting older, but ill wait on it

The thing with the 4.3L is that the ones I've seen/witessed dynoed with similar mods throw up different HP numbers. They don't seem to have consistent power. I'll admit that my Dakota is a real mutant, because it makes more power than it should (not that I'm complaining one bit). But the other Dak's I've seen dyno (including mine) have been right around each other (HP wise) with the same mods. I actually think the earlier 90's 4.3L were making more power than the 97's and up. That's just what I've seen around the Atlanta area...
