| 2 tenths is a good gain! IP: Logged
Message: I view the PCM as being the starting point for all mods on the 4.7.... but I would never say that a larger TB is without value! I made good power before adding it, but it certainly added even more once I got it on there.
I didn't get the 72mm F&B TB until after I had already been running 12s with the turbo, so I started with the ported stock 68mm and the turbo originally. The F&B billett TBs were just being released when I built my turbo system. I never really got a chance to play with it like I would have wanted to.
I never got the 72mm TB dyno'd compared to the ported 68mm, but I did swap them back and forth at the track when I ran my truck NA in Tucson. The 72mm TB was good for almost exactly 2 tenths of a second and just about 2 mph. My guess is that my F&B 72mm TB would be good for roughly 15-18 rwhp over the ported stock 68mm TB. That would probably be a pretty decent jump over the stock 65mm TB that came on the truck. (3 to 4 tenths?) Here again, that's at altitude. At sea level the differences could possibly be larger.
I have recently built a new intake system from the turbo that incorporates the 72mm F&B TB as part of the system. The 68mm is outa there! I'm running an air/water intercooler that mounts directly to the front of the TB. I hope to take some pics of the set-up and get them online fairly soon.
Either that or we can all wait for them to show up in some magazine? ;>) ......

Message: Depends on the year. Some only have one, but the newer or Calif. ones have a pre-cat right after the exhaust manifold before it comes down to the Y pipe.
