Message: good question :) it seems to me that the 3923's everyone talks about are meant more for the 5.2 and 5.9 enignes (as well as much of the other performance mods). the main difference in the stock plug (5224) and the colder 3923 is the nose length. should help out of you have pinging but other than that not really sure. i have a set of 5224's i plan on installing this weekend along with a z tube. you'll prolly also see some using bosch +2 platinums but then i read that platinums arent recommended for whatever reason...who knows :)

Message: I put 3923 in my 2001 4.7L, they work great. The difference (in looks) is the tip insulator sticks out more and is thinner in the 3923, but the overall length is the same. There is a platinum 3923 also, but as far as I've been reading its just costs more ($1.94 for two vs. $4.00 for two).

Message: No expert here, but I've read here and believe it:
The platinums are NOT recommended for the multi coil, 4.7 engine.
Some one else please chime in here.
Also, where the He!! is Harlow, you know Mr. Autolite, with enough jingles to make you puke?
Do a search here on the subject, been over it many times before here on the forum.
PS, I still got the old stock OEM's in mine, 19,000 miles.

Message: Gotta agree with Texas Todd...I read somewhere, maybe an entry from Bernd, that the platinums aren't recommended. Can't remember why though.
If you don't want to get a tow, better listen to Harlow.
