99 R/T mods :

Headers ( jet hot)
Hi flow cat
Gibson single 3"
180 stat
Quick D 51.75 mm Throttle body
Mopar K&N intake w/ heat shield
rubber flap cut away for more air to filter
Accell brass cap & rotor
Taylor 8mm wires
autolite 3923 @ .040
Mopar PCM

total cost - approx $3000 ( nolabor)

217.3 HP @ 4250 ( rear wheel )
305.8 TRQ @ 3100 ( rear wheel )

air/fuel ratio 12.8 @ 3000
12 @ 3500
11.5 @ 4000
11 @ 4500
10.8 @ 4800

I knew that sucker was running rich. I could smell it at the dyno. I think the PCM causing me to run rich & lose power. Not to worry , I have heads ,M1 , cam , 1.6 RRs and more on the way !

So I got about 27 HP over stock for $3K
Thats 111 bux / 1 HP ! yikes !

You all should have a dyno. You`ll be surprised.

your o2 sensor might be bad causing it to run rich. how many miles are on it? also, if its running rich, the cat might be bad which could result in a HUGE loss of hp and torque.

Mopar Performance PCMs, and other modified ones, are designed to go extra rich at WOT. Depends on your mods whether that is too rich or not. The PCM does not read the O2 sensor at WOT so that would have nothing to do with it. Hope this helps.

thats true about the WOT and the o2. forgot 'bout that. with 11,130 miles the o2 should be fine.

AND ITS A 99!?? you need to drive that thing!

Don't hate anyone yet. It is common for dynos to differ, particularly if they are different types. The DynoJet is reportedly ( by shops whose business is high performance ) the better one to use, as the operator makes less difference in the results. To compare a brake dyno run to a DynoJet run is too much like comparing apples and oranges - they could easily be off by 10% or more - or not, you just do not know. Too, where the HP figures corrected, or raw?

But then peak hp is not the whole story either. Those who rely on peak hp only are missing the big picture - the engine with a lower peak hp can run away and hide from the engine with higher peak numbers - if the former has more area under the hp curve. A single data point is almost useless....

Looks to me like you spent way too much on exhaust and not enough on intake. That TB is pretty big for your application. I bet if you do intake work (M1 2BBL and 1.7 Roller rockers) you'd see a huge jump in performance.

Yep , 4wDak , I was thinking the same thing. I opened up the exhaust real nice and not enough on the intake side.

Joel , I do have a print out of the dyno. I`ll send it to ya but I need a email addy or tell me how to post it here.

Fluid , I see what you mean about area under the curve and relying on a single data point. The HP & torque curves were pretty flat on my run up til about 4400 rpm. then they dropped like a rock. He went WOT at about 2800 rpm and let off at 5000 according to the graph.

It was my first dyno and I didnt want to get my expectations up too high. I guessed 220-225 peak HP. I wasnt far off !

Bone stock my '00 RT did 204 hp & 268 ft lbs.

1.7s will give you 12-15 hp and 20-25 ft lbs. of torque... M1-4bbl will drop 20-26 ft lbs., but gain 15-20 hp (but the curve is a lot wider for both torque and HP, higher up into the rpm range).

Currently my last run netted me 256 hp & 318 torque... Going to the Dyno today to get the updated #s with Cam, and heads... Hope to see 270 or so.. (fingers and toes crossed!)

My last dyno run on my '99 R/T got me 251hp and 304 ft/lbs to the wheels. Mods are
Mopar PCM
Mopar 2bbl M1
Mopar chrome headers
Fastman 51.75mm TB
QuickD CAI(uses stock air hat)
gutted cat
3" exhaust through a Spintech 5444 muffler
ASP under drive pulleys
Jacobs ignition
TPS mod

Since then my Jacobs ignition has died on me, and I have installed a set of 2.02 ported and polished R/T heads and Comp Cams cam. Alos have removed my factory clutch fan and have a Perma Cool Electric fan. The 2bbl M1 by itself gave me about 20 hp gain. I will be going to the dyno within next couple months and hope for a 300RWHP run.

have 97 5.2L with current mods including Crower 1.7 RR's, MSD ignition, Autolite 3923 sparkplugs, 180 degree t-stat, under drive pulleys, K&N FIPK and very soon I will have a Gibson single cat-back exhaust and high flow cat. The cat is here and the cat back is in the mail. Buy the end of the summer I will have an M-1 intake, F&B 50mm throttle body, electric fan and Mopar PCM. I am hoping to find a place here in Italy to get a dyno on it. I am hoping to be around 240 RWHP. Do you think I will be up that high? I am not sure I will find a place here for a dyno.

I'll bet ya $20.00 you'd do better with a F&B 52mm on the dyno... Your setup will benefit from the additional flow-- I may even try a 55x52 at Tucson this weekend to see any differences... Your AF ratio should be checked when you run-- that'll let you know if you have any MORE to give HP/torque wise.
