Subject: Change springs with 1.7 RRs? IP: Logged
Message: I'm rounding up all the parts for my Crower 1.7 roller rocker install.
I'm wondering if I should change my valve springs while I'm at it? I've read that they are required/recommended for 5500 RPM and up. I probably won't rev that high with my auto. Since I'm installing all the other stuff, I'm thinking I might put in the springs too.
The cost is about $80 (parts only). Are the springs difficult to change? Are there any other benefits or disadvantages to consider?
Thanks for the feed back!!

I'm getting ready to install mine this weekend, my understanding is that our trucks have a 5200 rpm rev limiter in the PCM so we won't see 5500 unless get a PCM flash

Message: If you stay below 5500 rpm, and have roughly 75k or less miles on your truck.. Stock springs should be fine. If you have questions re: install.. call me 619-448-5216 (we'll be doing heads/cam/m1/rockers/waterpump/Capt. Morgan Gold.... tonight/tomorrow he he).
I know the Crower's pretty well, I sell a lot of them!
