Message: I have the exact same problem. I had the fat rubber grommet in it and it leaked since day one. I went to Kragen and paid $3 for a chrome cap like the other side and guess what, It leaks as well. What do you do? I know I carry a rag with me at all times and try keeping it clean when I open the hood. Sucks, but if you find something that works, let us know.

Message: Take a screw driver, BEND the lip of the filler cap down (inside lip) so that it PULLS the cap tighter onto the valve cover. It makes the cap VERY tight onto the valve cover, and nearly eliminates all leaking.

Message: MikeD
My set has only 2 baffles with it (I haven't installed them yet). I think I'll make two more baffles using the Mopar ones as a template to keep oil from splashing directly on all four of the openings. This should help prevent leaks at the two openings designed for oil caps. This should also prevent oil from being sucked into the breather tubes on both valve covers.
I guess I will extend/reroute the "breather" hose from the air hat to go to the front hole in the passenger side valve cover, rather than to the rear hole. The rear hole on the passenger side of MOPAR's is designed for an oil cap rather than a round rubber plug. I beleive the passenger side breather tube/connection houses the PCV valve. What did you other guys do about this??

Message: I just removed mine for a little while till I can find out how to get those oil baffles. The ones I got didn't come with baffles and I got these little moroso black rubber baffles with the little slit in it from Summit. It still allows the oil to get into the rubber, which is sucked into the engine and then burneds, killing the upper cylinders. 1qt=300miles. I see the holes in the inside that are made for baffles, but we really need part numbers. I don't plan on putting on the 1.7rr's for a little bit.......
part numbers please for the baffles.....

Message: My polished set came with two small oil baffels that screwed to the three holes which surround the oil cap/breather openings.
I used those as a template and made two others. With all four baffels in place, I have no oil leaks.
The baffles are real easy to make. All they are is a flat shield that keeps the oil from squirting/splattering directly on the valve cover openings. Go to Lowes or Home Depot and buy a small, thin sheet of aluminum. Use a piece of thin cardboard and make a pattern for a shield that will amply cover the openings. (The MOPAR shields measured only about 3" x 4".) Mark and cut out the screw holes. After the cardboard pattern has been properly "fitted", use a pencil, trace it on the aluminum and cut it out with some tin snips. Screw it in place with some properly sized self tapping sheet metal screws and you're done.
Be sure to get the right size screws. If they are too big, they will break the aluminum mounting area on the inside of the valve cover. I know this for a fact :(.

Message: Pistolero
I have 1 of those now, maybe it's because I only looked at it for a slipt moment, but it seems as if it doesn't fit the holes. I ordered the valbe covers from Jegs a little while ago, but I travel 200+ days a year and don't have much home time to solve problems like this. But, that's just an excuse and I love working on an engine. Well, time to get a hold of Jegs and now Home Depot.
Dakaty
So as long as they have a little breathing room next to the walls, they'll be ok?

Message: If you could get those part numbers, no hurry, since I won't use them, again, for another few months anyway.
The dealership is in the middle of renovation and their computers are marginally good right now. The other 2 dealers in the area are a lot higher in price for the same parts, every time I have asked.
Thanks a lot

Yes, the baffles allow a space of about 3/8" between them and the walls of the valve covers.
