Subject: I want headers for our 2001 QC but...

Message:
The wife remembers all of the trucks/ cars that I have had with headers and the extra heat in the floor boards and the fact of always having to tighten bolts and replace gaskets. I know that the newer style headers have thicker flanges so they don't warp and leak but what about floorboard temps We tow a trailer and go onlong trips and I want a little better than 6 mpg. If any one can give me some ideas on how to convince her it will be ok or let me know how much if any they can feel the heat I would really love to hear about it. Thanks in advance.

Ceramic Coated headers. But they will cost you$$$. Try Speedtweaks, truckperformance, and check out links (top of this page).

I think you can even get them for your Neon.

I put Gibson SS headers on my QC and have no heat problems.

I've heard the coated headers are better for reducing heat and appearance. My SS headers have a very light coat of rust on them, but I don't really care.

Does your 2001 have precats on it?? (some don't)... If it doesn't, you can go with Positive Performance headers (mopar), ceramic coated for $625+ ship under my group buy (ends next Friday).

I used the SS Gibsons also..Have had no heat in the cab or exhaust leaks. Only issue was the heat on the RH side of engine bay concerned me. The header ends up within an inch or so to the brake line...I wrapped the line with a heat shield for good measure...
