Is anybody selling a Mopar Performance computer for a 2000 5.9? Preferably a California model...

I have a 4x4, but im willing to be a tester of the 2x4 computer (the only one offered) to see if it will work in our trucks. Since a bunch of guys are asking questions about this, everything I learn will be posted for the group.

Hi Wildhawk.

Funny how everyone tends to avoid this PCM issue like the plague.... What's up with that anyways?

Well, Ive been doing some research and it seems that a 2000 4x2 Mopar pcm will work in a 2000 4x4. Different years are not compatable though. The jury is still out on what vin# needs to be flashed in, whether it has to be a 4x2 vin, or if you can use your actual 4x4 vin. It also seems that you can run the PCM without flashing it, but that you will have to stare at the ABS dummy light until you do. Check out www.dodgetrucks.org and do a search for related posts. I found at least 11 threads.

I am also working out a deal for a PCM and I am going to try it without flashing it, so Ill keep you posted.

Well, I just scored a deal I couldnt pass up and I should have a Mopar 2x4 PCM in a couple of days. Im going to try running it for a few days without having it flashed and I'll post my experiences with that. Assuming I don't leave it unflashed, I'll confirm the 4x4 vs 2x4 VIN question once and for all.

Dano, good luck with that PCM. let us all know how it works.

I have a 97 Ram 1500 4x4 and am still trying to find someone to reflash my computer. I am new at this. Is there anyone you guys can recommend?
I am building a twin turbo 5.2 and definitely need more control over the electronics.
Its ashame this isnt a Ford or a Chevy. Those guys have EEC tuners, Autologic chips, LT1 edit, LS1 edit.
It seems to be a voo doo subject with Mopar guys. I would like to keep the stock electronics if possible, but if it is too much trouble, them maybe the steep price for DFI wouldnt be bad after all.
If anyone has a programmer that can do the flashing, please email me at leroyboy@comcast.net

Thanks!
