Well, I took a 4+ hour trip to Des Moines this weekend and it was one boring drive. Since I got my truck in February, I've only gone as fast as 80mph. I decided to see what she had and floored it on I-80. I got her up to 113mph before it cut out on me. I was only at about 3,000 RPMs @ 100mph. So much more room to go! I was very impressed with how well the truck handled at 100+ mph! It just freaked me out a bit when the engine cut out at 113mph. =)

lol my old 99 extreme cut out at 95mph I had my 02 Dakota up to 110mph it didn't cut out, I just ran into traffic (SOB!!!!!)

I know what you mean. My last truck was a '95 S-10 w/the 4 cyl.
One day I decided to see what it would run (down a long hill) ;-)
My heart stopped when the engine shut off @ 100! Then I remembered the rev limiter. Whew! Thought I blew it up or something.
I've had my '02 Dak up near 115 but haven't hit the limiter yet.

3.55 gear, 100 mph @ 3000rpm ?? that 5th gear mst be a overdrive..1 to 1 ratio with stock tires would be approx 75 mph @3k rpm

my truck has 3.55 gear and when im doing 75 it is about 2500rpms and when i get up to around 100 it is ushally around 3500rpms and i have had my 97' dak to 120 and it never cut out......although once over 105-110 it really slows down =)

I was dicing through 4-5 lanes of 11:00 pm Sundaynight traffic with a Mercury Detour full of young white trash when I bounced off the limiter a few times. They were just pullng up behind me bet that spooked em pretty good. Fell back to 105 kph. and just moseyed on home. Love that feeling just can't afford the price tag that so often goes with it.
Once I'm done Dragracing this beast I think I'll swap in some 3:23 gears for my 3:92's and head to Montana or one of them Nevada speed runs. at 115mph the computer will think I'm only going 95mph! should make theoretical top speed somewhere around 140. heh heh heh!
who am I kidding. I'll become complacent after I get the truck into the 14's. 8-)

I raced a Civic SI on the freeway the other day just because this guy looked like he was trying to be in "The Fast & The Furious 2" (huge metal wing and all!) Anyway, I hit 120 mph and then let off because he was far behind me. It was funny cause I let off to about 75 mph but he didn't want to pass me.

I have 4.7 5spd and it cuts out at about 117 and thats still in 4th gear and if I remember right about 4000rpm's.

I'm going to have to take my truck for another run to see what the rpms are. I may be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure I was at 3,000 rpms @ 100mph. Now I gots ta know!

I have a '01 CC Auto/AWD 4.7L 3.55 with few moderate mods and I get it up to 115 and no sign of a rev limiter or speed limiter. A few weeks ago I posted a poll for speed/rev limiters, check it out!

I have an '01 CC 4.7L 4x4 w/ 3.55's. Governer kickes in @ 115.5 mph. Gotta get rid of that thing(governer)...she wants to keep on pullin. A re-programmed computer(or chip) will fix that right?

Okay, I took her out at lunch time to the nearest interstate and this is what I got:
60 mph @ 2,000 rpm
80 mph @ 2,500 rpm
100 mph @ 3,000 rpm
105 mph @ 3,100 rpm
There was a Trooper sitting in the median, so I had to slow down at 105. =)

hold the key on if the drive/key cut out works. the tach still works. Dont have your foot on the clutch. 4200rpm@ 123mph w/auto and 4.10 on kumos. The truck is lowers 3/4. I hope you poeple have good rubber. It was still going when the brain gov. kick in.

if you have a auto leave it in 3rd gear that is 1 to 1 ratio, 4th gear is overdrive.. if 5 speed your 4th gear is 1 to 1 ratio. in other words your drive shaft is turning the same rpm as your engine. engine 2000 rpm and your drive shaft is 2000 rpm. your over drive, depending on the trnamission gear the engine good be at 2000 and your drive shaft could be turning 2500...98% of older cars and trucks high gear is 1 to 1 in all makes and models.. in 1 to 1 ratio and a 3.55 rear gear your drive shaft is turning 3.55 times every time your wheel turns once... some daks have 2.94 rear gear but no over drive. 28 mph per 1,000 rpm. so 4,000 = 112 mph .. .
