Message: Okay I feel really bad here... I was on the line with a buddy of mine in my 2002 RT, when an EX of mine pulled up beside me in a pontiac FIERRO!!! Anyway I wasnt paying too much attention and when the light turned green I heard his tires chirp and then I nail the gas. Tires didnt spin at all thankfully, but still I sat on his rear panel the entire time. The Ex, that @@@@ing bag, said later that they "smoked me". Here's how I see it: Im stock (as in absolutly NOTHING modded), he rebuilt and modified his POS... he has a manual and I have of course the auto.
my biggie here tho is that in about 4 weeks time Im likely going to be sitting on the line with him somwhere eles... so I need some good mods that I can do in the next couple of weeks that are DIRT cheep and that will boost me to the point where I can SMOKE him and the bag EX. Ideas would be greatly appicated... I know some of the things Im going to do like a new K&N gen II... but I need other CHEAP fixes after that.

Message: get the m1 intake and the mopar pcm. these two really work great together. you can get the intake for around 450 and the pcm for around 350. everyone on here seems to like the cold air over an open element. i run the open element and am really happy with it. i did 3 runs one time with my getch of the open element versus a homemade cold air. on all 3 runs of each i made more power with the open element, plus the open element is cheaper.

Message: slider_buck- ummm.....they don't make a MOPAR PCM for the 2002 R/T's.....They stopped making them for the 2000 models.
RTD2- You can get the PCM flashed for around $350. But since you said DIRT cheap, I would go with an IAT adjuster (when speedtweaks gets them in), IAT relocation (free mod, you just have to buy a plug for the intake), 180 Degree Thermostat ($10), Autolite plugs (about $8 for the set of 8), Homebrew intake w/ K&N filter ($45ish), Flowmaster Muffler ($70ish), Remove rubber flap next to radiator when you make homebrew (free).
These are just a few cheap mods that help in performance....

Message: Here's a silly bunch of questions now:
What exactly is an M1? Is there a specific part number to order from the dealer? Or is this something Im going to be able to find at Candian Tire?

Message: The M1 is a Mopar Perfomance Intake Manifold. They have 2bbl and 4bbl applications. They give dramatic improvements in the top end. You can order on from SpeedTweaks, Premier-Automotive, KRC Performance, World Wide Performance, Summit Racing, just about anywhere. Be advised though that there si a national backorder on the 2bbl ones. Also, if you buy the intake, you will need the installation kit for it because there are come ports that need to be plugged, new gaskets are needed, Fuel Rail needs to be lifted, etc.

Message: The 2 bbl is for light to medium modified engines, and the 4 bbl is for highly modded engines like a blower or turbo. Though you can use the 2bbl with the turbo or blower, some people recommend the 4bbl for these mods. Of course your gas mileage is going to suffer. The gas mileage between them is prolly not too bad...
