I have come across a 1999 Dodge Dakota R/T that was traded in at a local Ford dealer. Its a black CC model, they only wanted $12,643. Is that a pretty good price for this truck? It has 59k miles, is there anything I should look for while im driving it? Only thing I could find wrong with it was a crack on the side of the windshield. About how much will a new window cost?

They should replace the windshield before you buy it , around here it's against the law to sell a car with a broken windshield.

I agree with mopar. It has to be newly inspected and that shouldn't pass inspection if it is visible.

i have a 99 r/t and i had a problem with the output shaft(yoke) seal on the tranny leaking. i replaced the seal once and the dealer twice. they finally had to replace the rear housing on the trasmission. i have heard of other r/t's doing the same thing. another thing to look for is the front main crank seal leaking. the rotors are notorious warping. the stock intake manifolds are very well known for leaking plenum gaskets.

the rear of my tranny leaks to, I think its the yoke. my rotors warped too. interesting since its a 99 r/t. Look for any signs of body damage. around doors, on the edges of body lines. In fact get someone to check it out. I wish so bad I did that before I bought it.

Make sure it shifts to 2nd at WOT. Some of been known to hit the rev limiter first.

99 R/T
1.) warped rotors (BAD)
2.) Tranny would hit rev limiter in 1-2 shift only when cold
Dealer took car of these problems, of course I had to pay for the brakes. I would say that it is a fairly quick truck, and seems to be faster stock on stock with the newer 2000-2002 R/T's. I would say that price is not bad, they go about the same here in Indiana. I could not justify the 23,000 they want down here for a 2002 w/ chrome rims compared to any used R/T.

What does it mean when it wont shift out of first and second without letting off? How much will it cost me to get it fixed? or can i fix it myself? I have a 99 R/T and it has been doing this for a long time now.

I'd say that a 4 year old hot rod Dodge truck traded at a Frod dealership probably has some major issues, the most obvious being it's had the shlt pounded out of it.
