Message: Anyone stock got wooped by a stock s-10??? about the same year vehicles. Man I got a 93 basiclly stock. The only thing I got is a K&N and I warmed up a 99 S-10

gen 1 and 2 can beat s10s
gen 3 can only take newer s10s i think cause they were faster in the early to mid 90s
is this right???
i know no normal gen 3 V6 can take a 94 2700 lb 185 hp s10

I remember weighing my '86 S10 V-6 Automatic (with a fiberglass cap) and it came out to something line 3400 lbs.
Older S10s aren't that light, and the 94s and up are even heavier.
I remember a Dakota ad from the early 90s (around 94) where they compared the performance of the Dak V-6 against the S10's V6, and Dodge claimed the Gen II was almost 1/2 a second faster in the quarter. Experience at the track bears this out.
Allowing for the 300-400 lb weight difference of the Gen III vs the Gen IIs, it should be a close race, at best (assuming 1/10 of a sec disadvantage for every 100 lbs of weight added).
Also, Chevy's 4.3 is the most rough running, unbalanced V-6 on the market. That's why the had to put balance shafts in them!

Message: Dude....the current S10 body style has been in production since the '94 model year.
The orginal style S10 was produced from '82 thru '93.
