Subject: trans..question! IP: Logged
Message: My tranny is slowly dying on me and i need a new one. i have an auto right now but i'm considering to buy a stick. I would also look into getting a higher performance one, for future mods. what do you guys think i should do? thanx for the help.

Message: 42,630! For a 98 not to much,and thats the thing. This guy at a transmission place told me that he see's many daks come in there. He said it's very common, and heres why- "there is a drum inside the tranny, with a ring cut into it. The factory goofed up by cutting the ring too deep. So the o-ring wears out real fast. You'll probably start to see problems after 40 K miles." -
I had this conversation at about 39 K miles,(after i through a rod). He said they won't recall it b/c problems normly happen after warrenty. In my case after 38 K.
He's probably pulling my leg, but he said it would be 1300 to fix, and 1600 for a new one. Sorry for the length, thats just whats up.
