Subject: question about mods 4.7L IP: Logged
Message: OK, I'm somewhat familiar with what mods are out there for the 4.7L. My question is it seems like you do a little here a little there and you may gain 5-10 hp, that's fine, but then 3 weeks, 3 months down the road, there's a post saying now my truck isn't running right. Realizing this, I won't do anything other than an exhaust, and I have already the intake. But as far as the IAT, different t-stats etc.. have any of you noticed any serious gains? was it worth it to you?
This post isn't meant to discourage you guys and gals from tweaking your truck here and there, but more or less wondering how much gains have you gotten? have you regretted anything? has anyone screwed up while trying a mod (like over tighten something, adjust something way outa wack?)

Message: The only mod i've ever heard anyone having probs with is adjusting tps. I haven't done it and probably won't because of the few foul ups i've heard about.

Message: Not a single drivability problem with all the mods I have. Gas milage is the same as stock as well.

Message: No problems what-so-ever. Got the 360 intake, and exhaust, and a heavy foot!
However, don't try the ATF+3 transmission fluid mod. That mod sux a$$. ATF+4 ---- 4 LIFE!

Message: so how much gain are you guys getting vrs how much you spend? I'd say the labor part is the best part of it, but there are times that get annoying.

Message: On strictly performance (the intake,and exhaust so far......) I've spent MAYBE $400 total on my truck..........in the performance department.

2 chamber Flo. duals out back including labor.
And for that amount,,I'm totally satisfied. My truck is quicker off line,,,better top end (feels like),,,and sounds freak'n incredible!
I just look for good deals on my parts. I've spent much more on other goodies though. Soon to be lowered 2/3,,,the kit's gonna run me $300 shipped w/4 nitro shocks included.

I cut too far away from my muffler when in stalling the MBRP exhaust so I had to fab a piece out of the old piece I cut off. I also did this in the pure dark of night under a dim streetlamp on cold wet pavement when it was about 20 out, and like 3-4 with windchill in nothing but some old jeans and a ripped-up sweatshirt. The fact it was 11 o-clock at night was a b!tch too. I just couldn't wait, I had to get it on. Nor snow, nor wind, nor cold will stop me from putting on my exhaust! Don't do that.
I went places in winter that I should have had a 4x4 for with and only 120lbs. in the back...

Message: i have done minor tweeks to my truck but only preparing it for a paxton NOVI 1000 supercharger, i have an Air Raid intake, flowmaster 50 series with stock single exhaust, i like sleepers, and a jet performance module, it will run 9.7 in the 1/8 mile but working on improving that, gonna add a triple plated stage 2 racing clutch to my truck and the paxton and hopefully can break into low low 9 or maybe high 8s with my 4.7 4x4 5 speed 3.92 gears
