 Subject: Emissions warranty

I've been arguing with some friends on the extant of the emissions warranty on my Dak, in particular, the warranty in regards to the factory cat.
According to the EPA, DC must cover the cat on my '99 for 80,000 miles.
I've seen posts where a few Dak owners complained of cat failures, and were worried about them being covered after the vehicle's basic warranty expired.
DC may claim that they are covered for 25K after a replacement, but the law states otherwise (and DC must adhere to it).
Any body have any experiences regarding this?

You are right. I got a cracked y pipe replaced once under that federal warranty at over 70,000 miles,covered because it was upstream from the cat. And the dealership was actualy nice enough to inform me of this ! Of course, if your friends are in Canada, they might be right there.
