I own 2002 QC 4x4 w/awd, etc. Have minor thumping when @ 5-10mph. Feels (through frame and gas pedal) like a mount is loose. Anybody with similar problem?

Also at certain times (starting and slow crawling off-road) sounds like engine fan running overtime w/lessened throttle response. ?????????

Can you explain the "thumping" a little more. When does it happen? Under what circumstances? Steady roll or at acceleration? Is it worse during turns? Is it a constant thumping or one that you hear once in a while?

As for the second question, this is pretty normal. My 2000 QC 4x4 does the same thing. When off-roading or crawling along with thick traffic, there is less airflow through the radiator/coolers. Hence, the engine fan stays on a LOT more in an effort to keep things cool. To make matters worse, my Warn winch blocks a significant portion of the lower grill area....so both my engine fan & electric fan run double-duty trying to cool my 5.9L down on the trails & in traffic.

Maybe its just me, but I think the engine fan robs me of about 84,000 horsepower!! 8^) All right, that's an exaggeration, but it is definitely noticable!

I think one of my projects this summer will be to install a pair of (or single large) Flex-a-lite electric fan that can move more air more efficiently than the OEM electric fan.
