Subject: Brake caliper replacement

Message:
Does anybody know/recommend an aftermarket brake caliper mod for a 1998 Dak 4x4? I'm gutting my brake system (everybody in here knows why :) ) I'm getting the powerslot rotors and the raybestos quiet stop pads. I'm also snagging the raybestos rear drums with pads as well. All I need are the calipers.
Thanks,
Brian

Are you just looking for a better replacement for the stock calipers or a race type kit, i.e. 4 piston calipers?

Your going to have a hard time finding an upgrade like that. I've done extensive research on this and to the best of my knowledge no one makes a single piston or dual piston upgrade. What you can do is email or call someone at the presicionbrakescompany.com
They can do a custom setup for dakotas. I'm actually getting a four piston race setup custom made from them. You might be able to have them adapt something like the stillen statix calipers to a dakota. Or you can try talking with stillen to find out if there's a kit coming in the future.
Brake company list:
stillen.com
presicionbrakescompany.com
ssbrakes.com
hp.brembo.com
stoptech.com
wilwood.com
Like I said your going to have a hard time, but maybe one of these companies has planned an upgrade since I've talked to them. Let me know how it goes and what you find out.
