Message: Just cut muffler out and at a straight pipe and "Y" it out the back, mine sounds good and I have the 4.7 auto. When you mash it and it shifts to second gear it lets out an awesome bellow that wakes everyone up. It cuts the torque down a little but ups the horses!

Message: I bought a 40 series flowmaster and had a local muffler shop custom make a 3" catback w/tip for $145 total. It looks great and sounds awesome, instant HP and TQ gains. I'd recommend this over a dual setup. If you upgrade the exhaust you must add a good intake kit to fully take advantage of your exhaust. I'd recommend an Intense Performance 3" Z Tube w/9" Pro Flo Filter
01 Graphite QC 4x4 4.7L
JBA Shorty Headers
Flowmaster 40 Series w/3" Catback
Intense Performance 3" Z Tube w/9" Pro Flo Filter

Message: I got the flowmaster 40 deltaflow, paid 65 for the muffler and paid eighty to have it put on with dual outlet pipes and tips. It is loud as hell when you want it to be, but not as droning as the regular 40 series in the cab( i used to have one on my 92). I love it! Good luck!

Message: The Magnaflow sounds like just what you are looking for. I had a local shop do a custom cat-back with 1-3" inlet and dual 2.5" out and I dumped it right after the spare tire. I couldn't be happier. Just a really mellow rumble.

Message: Before I got my true duals I had the Flowmaster 40 original series single in dual out and had dual pipes out the back and that setup was pretty sweet! Loud enough to set off a car alarm when revved.

Message: This is what you do...
1)buy a muffler on the internet or from a catalog that you want for as cheap as you can find it.
2) then do the same thing with tips( if you want them). This way you can get exactly what you want and you can shop for the cheapest price. If you go to a shop to get the muffler and tips it will be more expensive b/c they have to mark up the price to make a profit.
3) take the muffler and tips to a local (not a national chain) but find out if they do quality work first. Chances are they are not going to charge as much and they can do just as good a job as anyone else.
4) take about 75-100 bucks cash with you and tell him what you want done to the truck, and all you will need from him is two pipes bent and then everything welded in place. Then do some negotiating with him... say " well, i've only got X amount of dollars on me..." and try to get a cheaper price than what he asks. I paid 80 bucks to have my muffler and tips( i brought those to the shop)welded on. Oh, also, i dont know if this makes a difference, but the guy who welded my muffler on didnt speak much english, and i had to do some talking in Spanish to him (I live in south Texas).
Try this, I believe it is the cheapest way to go. Be smart and dont be afraid to say no thank you if you dont get the right price. Then go try some place else.
Sorry for writing so much, but I hope this helps!

Message: you did get screwed ross, a local shop said they'd switch out the muffler for 25 bucks. With pipework and tips it's 110. Hopefully your prices were in canadian.
Anybody think the 40 series is too annoying and loud on the highway, hows the deltaflow on the highway??

Message: Red4.7,
No real connection or inside hook up, I just went to www.racerpartswholesale.com and click on Flowmaster. The muffler was and still is 65.99 shipping not included. I got the single in, dual out Deltaflow 40 series. When I ordered they had a little mix-up with the part numbers, so just call them and tell them what you want and they will get it for you. I got a 2.5" inlet, and 2.5" outlets muffler. Sorry, I can't find the part number right this instant, but later in the day I can try to find it for you. Go to Flowmaster.com and get the part number you want from there and then tell racerpartswholesale thats what you want and make sure their numbers and sizes match yours. What size you looking for anyway?

Message: I got the 3.5" inch chrome, and i think that i got the 12" long ones. If i had it to do again, I would go with the longer 18 inchers. Its just personal preference. I like the 3.5" opening though. It looks sweet, I used to have 3" tips and it looked a little small.

Message: I am not sure about 2001, but the stock bore on a GenIII V6 TB is 42mm. I have heard guys going up to 50mm on the V6 but that is only after they are heavily modidfied. I dont know but a 56 or 58 mm bore would be way too huge and you would lose any low-end torgue you ever had, not to mention that you may not have a throttle body left after porting that much metal off it. Going from a 42 to a 56? Thats 14 mm per barrel so with the other side to that would be 28 mm. I think that is close to impossible, and extremly undesirable if it was possible. Just go with a stock V8 TB, that thing is 48 mm and more then enough breathing for a slightly to no mods on a V6.
