 Subject: Whats the real deal with TB Spacers?

OK, ive heard a lot of conflicting reports about these, from absolutely necessary, to 68mm paper weights. What is the real deal with them? Im looking to get quicker throttle response, and i already have headers, exhaust a chip and Air Raid intake. Anybody that has one of these, tell me what you think. Thanks

And i'd like to hear from the guy who is the aerodynamics engineer (the one who posted about tonneau vs open tailgate) I'd really like to hear his perspective on this topic. Im thinking of one and would like to know the facts on them too

I haven't had any experience with these but was looking at them a while ago, and got some good information from people. From what I understand, the design of the intake manifold on the 3.9/5.2/5.9 motors make the TB spacer a very good paperweight. I've seen a few dyno sheets showing that these do nothing for these motors. I have heard that there is a MINOR increase with the 4.7 motors, but have not seen any dyno's or any hard evidence proving that. Try to find someone with a 4.7 that has dyno sheets for this thing and we will know for sure, but for now all I can say is STAY AWAY!
By the way, I heard these thing make a HORRIBLE coaster =)

To make it short about the open tailgate,the guy said that the DAK was designed so the airflow around and over the truck flows over the top of the tailgate.Leaving the tailgate down does nothing to increase mpg,the air will flow into the bed and cause a vacuum effect against the back of the cab,thereby increasing drag and decreasing mpg.This does not apply to all trucks of course,the dakota was designed in a windtunnel.

heres the real deal right here---> they dont work
i was kinda upset to see one of my favorite mag's tv show (hot rod tv) install a tb spacer on a ford excursion. i wonder who the lucky person was to get one of them, hahaha

I had one before I knew about this site, found out that they only made a whistling sound and thats it, so I returned it.

I was thinking about one because my throttle response has really dropped off recently, and my acceleration, well, lets just say when im going uphill, it feels like im pushing 35's with a 4 banger. Could leaky headers be causing a dropoff in acceleration?

Has any tried it with the M1? M1 drops air into the cylinder vs BeerKeg that drops into the pan area then up into the runners.

I have the HELIX "power stacker" or something like that. I got this one because I heared that the airaid ones will fail visual smog checks because of their red color, but I guess thats changed. (mine is chrome)
Anyway, I didn't feel anything at all, I have intake and exhaust as well, but I didn't feel any difference after the TB spacer. It does whissle though. One of my friends thought I had a Supercharger for a while, untill I showed him. The mechanics of it is: it's supposed to mix the air with fuel more efficiently giving you more HP. But I also heared that if theres any gain at all, it's more low-end torque.

Here is what i heard:
They work on TBI injected engines but not MPI. The idea being that on TBI engines where the fuel/air mixes at the TB it helps it mix with the swirling and gives it a little more distance to mix with the space.
That being said i had one too before i knew of this site. It does make an interesting whistle, It was a god paperweight for a while. I heard it makes a great place to mount a TB on your workbench to port it or whatever. But i sold it on EBAY for $5 more then i paid for it a year ago!!!
