Message: Help, I purchased a 2002 quad cab 4x4 dakota sport (awd, 4hi, 4low)w/4.7 engine. On some highways, not all, I get tremendous road vibration, shaking through frame, seat of pants, not through steering wheel. Dealer does not know cause, all wheel balance checked. Says harmonic vibration. They have checked wheel alignment/balance, etc.
Has anybody else had this problem, and if they have, what is the solution?

Message: Check your driveshaft. My 96 just all of a sudden started vibrating at 70 mph on the freeway. Checked the tires and after getting it on the rack I watched the shaft spin in neutral. It was way ot of balanced. In fact the driveline shop said it was out of round. I ended up having it retubed. No more vibration.

Message: Take it back to the dealer and DEMAND them to fix it. I wouldn't put up with that sh!t.
BTW how is that awd setup, have you nailed it from a stop? Does it lay ya back in the seat real good? I kinda regret not getting that option in my 2002 CC 4x4. I'm thinking of trading it in on a new 2003 5.7L, I guess I should have just waited now I'm just paying for the depreciation of my truck, oh well.

Message: Thanks to both Duke & Clevite 77. Having words already with dealer. Writing Dodge district rep for confirmation of ignorance. Have set up program for checking drive shaft (including angles) motor, transmission, transfer case(s)
mounts. Anything else anybody could think of would be of help. Vibration between 25mph & 65mph and only on certain types of roads. Some roads/highways, it is smooth as glass.

Message: Now this is going to sound dumb but I did this very thing. Pay attention to the kinds of roads that the truck vibrates on. I tried to get my truck to stop vibrating for an entire day once only to realize that it was the pavement on the road in front of my shop. Some roads are inconsistant...just a thought.
