Yeah Kris the R/T's shoulda been runnin alot better it was just the conditions it was really humid. There were 2 guys there that had heads and cam work done but were only in the mid 14's. I'm gonna run my truck when conditions are a little better and then see how I do....and when I remember to leave it outta overdrive haha.

Message: HELL yeah it makes a ton of difference...I was racin this old man in an R/T that last run I did and if I woulda had it outta overdrive it would'nt have shifted early and I couldof pulled to the high rpm's. I mean I had it to the floor and it still shifted to 4th I was like DAMNIT!! Cuz I know I had that dude...hell his reaction time off the line was .718...also whats annoying me even though I had my rev limit bumped to 6000 its still not shifting outta first when I have it under WOT. As soon as I let up for it to shift he jumped ahead...this is killin me I don't know what to do to fix this.

Message: I still have that 1st to 2nd problem, only way I can bypass it is too pull the TV cable way forward. Sucks for normal driving but always shifts from 1st to 2nd.
Next time at the track I'll take off overdrive.
After I clear up this shifting stuff, I save up for a Supercharger 13's here I come! :)

Message: MikeD it sounds like you have something out of wack in you tranny. I don't know how the Optimizer works compared to a MP PCM but I have no problem with the truck not shifting the 1-2 and especially shifting into 4th anytime it's floored and going less then 100 MPH. You should leave the OD od for the run, or the torque converter will lock up in 3rd gear and you will loose the torque converters torque mulitplication effect. It will feel like a slight bog in 3rd. But then again you don't want it to shift into 4th either so I don't know what you should do but get that TV cable adjusted right. Do you hit the 6000 rpm rev limiter in 1st if you don't let off? That sounds way out of wack. The times sound fine in comparison to what other were running so maybe its not as bad as it feels.

Message: Tom- I have got a little project for you and Bernd. I want to put ported and Polished R/T heads, Cam shaft, 1.7 Roller Rockers, M1, Supercharger (already bought) on mah truck. I think I found a good price for the ported and polished heads from SouthEastRT.com, so I am gonna need the rockers, M1 and camshaft. If you guys can do this, I will take a couple of days off and be there in april.

Message: Hersbird I've talked to a bunch of dakota owners thats said they have've had problems w/ their dakotas not shifting out of gear. And yes it'll hit the 6000 rev limit if I don't let off, did it once and made a weird fuzzing sound (maybe the valves or springs) but I quickly let off. It has no problems shifting into anyother gear. With overdrive off I get the full potential of the M-1 pulling hard. Thats how I kept up w/ the Cobra...it actually shifted out of first on that run...he was stifting while I was still pulling hard out of second so I definatley need to overdrive off or it will shift early from 3rd to 4th. One guy w/ an R/T that night said he had problems not shifting outta 3rd...he never touched his TV cable.
Here is a thought...if I had the tranny line pressure relieved just a little would that do it? I don't wanna adjust my TV cable to shift any firmer or it will shift too early at WOT. Tell me what U think.

Message: Well I'm not really sure. I think the problem not shifting out of 3rd is not a problem. You should never have to shift out of 3rd in the 1/4 mile. With stock tires and stock gears you can run 106 MPH in 3rd gear at 5000 rpm. If your rev limiter is set at 6000 rpm then you can get to 127 MPH in 3rd gear. The no 1-2 shift seems like the TV cable is out of adjustment. I've hear of people taking their truck back to the dealer to get the TV cable re-zeroed because they dinkied with it and could not get it back right. I also think they come from the factory not always quite right, as for some people the TV adjustment makes a big difference and for other any changes seem to hurt. Mine seemed perfect when I bouth it, but I bought it used so somebody may have already tweaked it. I tried moving it but ended up going back to the starting place because all it did was make it hold 1st and 2nd a long time at part throttle, it didn't change the WOT. If you are not shifting at all from 1-2 at WOT then the TV cable needs to be adjusted to let it shift eariler. The problem is it is shifting too soon at WOT in 3rd so you could always just lock out overdrive to keep that from happening, at the sacrafice of letting the torque converter lock up in 3rd. Maybe you should try a shift kit. My old 93 used to hit the rev limiter on the 1-2 shift as well after I changed the exhaust system, but before I could figure out how to cure it I bought a MP PCM which raised the rev limiter and that was all it needed.
