Message: Personaly I would take a new Mini S over either. I belive it only ways about 2000lbs. (sans driver) and makes 160hp plus it's much different than a PT.

Message: My wife is on the Texas waiting list, stupid lawsuit. That's why there is no dealer in Texas yet. A BMW dealership is suing BMW Corp for exclusive rights to keep Mini's on BMW dealerships. BMW Corp wants the Mini to be sold at ANY dealership BMW or not... Damn dealership....

Message: Mini's are just cool though. They're kinda like go-carts...yet with 160h.p. I'd just like to see if I can fit in one. I'm 6'2 so it may be a little cramped

Message: But aren't alot of "foreign cars" already made in America? Civics, Accords, Tundras, Tacomas...all made in America now. Aren't they going to start making some Dakota parts in Mexico? Isn't the new focus made in Europe? Common Crazy Bob..its a brave new world. Nothing is quite what it seems anymore.

Message: new civic SI is assembled in UK! girlfriend is
gonna get one in a couple of weeks...I would
wait a year on the mini, the supercharged
version comes out, I saw a guy road testing
the regular cooper in LA, and he said the
cooper S is way more fun, the naturally
asperated version is a slug, but cool to drive.
believe me, I will be sneaking my girls SI to
the track, she can roll my dak anytime! hell,
the civic might even beat it, faster than the
turbo GTI's...pretty impressive.
CThomp, yeah, I am 6'1" and there is plenty of
room in the mini :)

Message: A freind of mine owned and raced a few mini's back in the day. I have heard many stories about how fun it was with a little work done to it. He did say it never really impressed his dates to see a webber side draft poking into the passenger compartment.
As for the 1.8T GTI, i'm not overly impressed. I've riden in one of the new one's with the higher boast making 180hp and I am pretty sure it was slower than my Dak. However it can make close to 300hp for under $1000. It is pretty amazing what can be done with those little engines, but for the most part the phylosiphy seems to be "run em till they pop".

Message: If anybody comes up with one of those cooper S's to me, I will pop them like a red-headed stepchild with my 89 Dodge Omni (turbo conversion). HEHEHE... Supercharged..wwooooo...
Just kidding guys, they are nice little cars and they do look better than the neon Srt-4, butttt....
If they would just make the Razor and put wider tires on the back... I would be happy. Hell, I love the Pontiac Solstice too, and both of these cars would whip the cooper like a little _ _ _ _ _(you-know-what).
I haven't personally seen much fast rice as far as the non-super cars go (hondas, mazda Rx-7's, etc.) The only thing that would be a contest would be those rare cars with heavily breathed engines, Turbo kits, and big N20 shots. And forget about the newest generation RX-7's and Toyota Supras..
These new sporty little cars would be a blast though..
Later,
Ryan

Message: Hey you guys... if any of you are serious about buying one of those cute little things, here is a tip. They will be sold here in Canada for a couple of thousand less. Factor in the exchange rate and it would make one heck of a difference. Only thing is, Canadian buyers have to sign a contract promising not to re-sell it in the states. I have an article at work with all the details. If anyone is interested I will post more info tomorrow.
97 3.9 CC Sport. Black. Auto 3.55 Quick D Intake, JBA Stainless headers, Autolite 3923s, stainless Borla Turbo XL, V8 R/T TB, FMS fuel injectors. Coming: 17-inch Boyd Smoothies!
