Subject: Same thing happened to my Accel coil! IP: Logged
Message: A couple pages back there were a bunch of threads on coils and someone posted their Accel went in about three months. Well, I had that direct replacement coil on my Cherokee and the same thing happened, so beware!

Message: What happens when it goes?
Total, immediate loss of ignition fire?
What is the guarantee?
I've got one that is about 3 months old. Maybe I'll keep my OEM coil in the glove box!!!

Message: Bernd, what's your opinion on this? I'm thinking of ordering an accel coil from you,(not to imply anything, just being a cautious consumer)

Message: Yes Dakaty, total loss until it cools (I think) then it would start again. I kept my original and put it back. I just ate the 50 bucks!

Message: Larry I was the one that posted that about the coil. I bought mine from summit racing and it went out after 90 days, it was the epoxy bolt on coil not the 300+ that Bernd is selling. Summit refunded my money. They were good to deal with so I bought my Flex-a-Lite 150 fan from them. Going to put it on today.

Message: I've got a Accel coil on my Dak and on my wife's Jeep. Ran Accel coils on my old Camaro (years ago) as well. Haven't had a problem personally but there is such a thing as a failure rate with manufacturers. (MSD, Mallory, Jacobs, etc., all have these problems as well.)

Message: Went to the dealer for my stink problem( see Still Running Rich) and the computer had a Ingnition coil fault code storred it there. I have a MSD 6a with blaster 2 coil. Had it since dec 01 and had no problems. is this normal after installing these things. The engine light never came on or did anything funny. Normal or Not? other then that no apparent problems. Chris

Message: Why is that you can more than likely run w/ your stock coil the whole life of the motor but aftermarket companies that specialize in ignition systems have so many failures? Is it just becuase performance parts never last as long as stock parts? Never understood that.

Message: Chris- The coil is what tripped the code. It puts out much more juice than the stock coil, the PCM reads this, but it does not trigger a light. You will not experience any problems what so ever if that code is tripped.
