Subject: loudest and best exhaust setup? IP: Logged
Message: Hey, I just bought a used 99' extended cab Deep Amethyst R/T and was wondering what exhaust you think is louder and better performance overall. My choice is between the Gibson supertruck sideswept in front of rear tire or the MBRP with rollpan and cuda tips. Thanks for your input.
P.S. does anyone know if rollpans are legal in AZ?

Message: I have a 99 4x4 5.2L with the gibson swept side and it is not that loud at all. I mean I can hear it if "I'm on the pedal" but get something else if you want people to notice you. A lot of people say the flowmasters are louder because the muffler it'self is thinner but I haven't heard one to compare.

Message: flowmasters are junk, get a straight through
type muffler, dynomax (ultra flow race welded)
or magna flow. switch the pipe to 3" catback.
dynomax offers lifetime warranty,
flowmaster...no warranty.
If you insist on trusting in flowmaster, "cause
everyone else is doing it" then get a single
chamber race muffler.
have heard of power decrease on previous
posts with the gibson setup. Dont go dual,
you will lose power. makes it sound louder,
but not good performance wise.

Message: You want loud, go with the MBRP setup. I have the dual out on mine (not cuda) and in side it doesnt sound bad, but i had my gf drive it the other day, i thought i was runnin straight pipes!
I LOVE the sound of the MBRP system. And personally, i dont care if i lost or gained hp with it (thats why i have a s/c). I did it all for the sound. I floored it and passed a friend on the road the other day, and when he caught up to me at the next light he said i sound like a 2000 hp race car. I LOVE IT! hehehehe

Message: Sorry I'm a new guy on this board but what's a MBRP system, sounds like the system I want though.
GlenC-If you could e-mail me at gixsaar@hotmail.com that would be cool, I have some questions about the KB.
Thanks

Message: Um....yeah. I have true dual Flowmasters 40 Series, number one-awesome performance gain and number two- the little piece of paper that comes in the box says "lifetime warranty". And on top of that, the muffler shop gave a lifetime warranty too...

Message: MBRP does have a website up
http://www.mbrp.com
I think there is a sound clip on their site. I have another one (of someone elses truck) if anyone wants it. The sound clip on mbrp's web site is from an R/T, and the one i have is from a 4.7. But dont judge the system from the sound clips. It sounds a million times better in real life. Oh yeah, if anyone wants a single swept stainless Gibson cat back, i have one for sale. It is used and dirty, but sounds great (its a good quiet sound, with just a hint of rumble). I got the gibson because i wanted that sleeper look and sound. I highly recommend it. It really just depends on what sound you are looking for.

Message: I didnt really get the stainless for looks, where i live it all gets coated in mud anyways. I got it mostly for longivity. From what i understand the stainless will last a hell of alot long than the aluminized. Hell, if it costs more it should be better right? =\
